Computer as a Core Internal module, with docking computers and supercruise assist as sub-modules

I've been wondering, with all of our various ships, ranging from small fighters to large thiccbois, there must be some significant computational power required to make their various systems work. Now where is that? Obviously we have some Thargoid monkeys hiding under our ship panels calculating our jump fuel usage.

My suggestion is having a computer system as a Core Internal module, with docking computers and supercruise assist as sub-modules (like how SRV bay has special slot for SRVs itself), this would make much more sense than filling up Optional Internal slots with different assist "computers".

Basically, with different rated computer systems you get more sub-module slots and if FDEV wants to make it more restricting there could also be 'computational power', which limits the complexity of added sub-modules. Also this could give the option for various different computer systems, maybe different manufacturer's system makes your panels and ship holograms look bit different, or how about a Guardian-Human hybrid computer with really arcane looking panels?

Now with more complex thing, can it be damaged? What would happen? I imagine that these ships are equipped with various redundancy systems and backups so a single failure wouldn't halt the ship. If this is still required, maybe have a main computer system which upon being heavily damaged or destroyed would make COVAS blabber about the universe, maybe throw off FTL fuel calculation and of course disable sub-modules.
