Computer System requirements

The minimum specifications have have not being set yet.

I'd imagine though that you'll need a dual core cpu, a 1gb videocard and 4 gb of ram.

Outrageous lies...

You will need:

64bit OS running on uEFI hardware.
Intel Xeon 5590 on an X58 chipset.
2TB SSD drive.
256GB RAM.
Quad SLI Nvidia Titan GPUs.
2560x1600 screens x 16.
Xonar Essence STX sound card.
Skull Candy Wireless sound cancelling Headphones

This is a complete fabrication as to the minimum required to run Elite D, since no-one knows yet, but it is a nice fantasy to have.

If you'd like a more accurate guess as to the minimum specs for Elite Dangerous,
look at the recommended specs for this game

Minimum specs is an internet connection, an electricity supply and a working computer (capable of running Elite : Dangerous). Or was that not helpful? :)

Don't need the internett if you choose to play single player offline? :D

Muh oh.

Don't need the internett if you choose to play single player offline? :D

From the description on the offline/online thing, it seemed as though the game has to be internet connected at all times, and that 'offline' merely meant 'invisible' to other players. Otherwise, it's not much of a living, dynamic universe I guess.

As well as the option for single-player online, there's going to be a totally offline version without the dynamic universe. You won't be able to transfer offline commanders to an online environment though. It's mainly there for if you live somewhere with a really horrible internet connection, or want to play on your laptop in a cave. Or if the apocalypse dawns, or something like that.

For the rest, your usual computer will do the trick ...

A PS4 for £349 will be everything you need.

Except for the little fact that (as yet) Elite Dangerous isn't being relased on any consoles.

I'd suggest looking at the requirement for
X : Rebirth
and
Star Citizen.

There will be a lot of cross over between players so it makes sense to aim for the same level of hardware.

But, and this is the important bit ...
No one except Frontier knows and Frontier aren't saying anything yet.

I hope there won't be talk on here of having the most up-to-date high spec PC there is, like there seems to be on the SC forums. We have to remember that space sims are still niché and you don't want to reduce that niché even further by having only top of the range PCs being able to play it. Such demands tend to freeze out potential players who don't want to upgrade their rigs.

The specifications should be reasonable, but I think a game like Elite will require a minimum of power. Especially when we will take off from the planets

:p

If I doubled the RAM in my current PC, I could play Rebirth* ... so I doubt the specs for ED will be unreasonable

* I could play Rebirth if I wanted to ... but I don't
