An Asus H-97 Plus. I know nothing, but im told its good for the price and Asus generally make good boards.
My brother said he had too many problems (ie too many to 'annoy' him) with AMD drivers, so insisted on an nVidia card. It was a big help knowing someone in the games industry to say what's what. Id compared so many gfx cards and cpu's my eyes were broken.

Yeah I would agree with the i3 and a good GPU. I have a i5 4690k @4.4 and as said, it only uses a very small amount of CPU. The games doesn't even tax my 770gtx but it is a OC'ed version. I run all on ultra and even force super sampling and other candy via NV control panel. A 770 can be bought for small money these days.
This is mine http://www.amazon.co.uk/Palit-GeForce-Jetstream-Graphics-Express/dp/B00D3ZYDLQ
and the vanilla version is much cheaper http://www.amazon.co.uk/GeForce-DirectCU-Graphics-Express-Display/dp/B00D3F7CFK
if you are going for a i3 and its one of the newer models like the 4360 then there's only £50 or so between that and the quad core i5 4690k which is a awesome processor with a lot of OC potential. Got mine to 4.4 on air and stable as can be.
Don't skimp on the Motherboard also as that's like the heart of the machine. I have the Asus Z97 which is a awesome motherboard.
Edit: Just seen the above post. Gratz and welcome to the club. Looks like a nice machine. Great choice with Intel and Nvidia by the way. Which Mobo did you go for?
