Newcomer / Intro Computer Voice - who is she ?

playing ED tonight when my girlfriend walks in, she says she recognises the computer voice but for the life of her she cant think who it reminds her of lol

could anybody shed some light on who does the voice acting ?

many thanks in advance as it will save my girlfriends braincells :)))

you know what, i completely forgot that was there :rolleyes:

looked her name up on IMDB but nothing came back, so guess my GF is going to have to wonder who it reminds her of....... for the rest of eternity.. muhahha :D

Same thing happened to me when I heard her voice and I remember thinking how much it reminded me of the computer voice in Mechwarrior. The computer voice sounded a lot like this one (provided my memory is still working as intended). Maybe your GF played that game back in the day or heard you playing it?

My favourite is 'Cargo scoop retracted' which despite attempting to remain deadpan, she manages to imbue with a certain cheekiness. It's like a Carry On film from 1965 and makes me laugh every time :D

The ship's computer voice reminds me of POD in the BBC3 TV show "Snog, Marry, Avoid", voiced by Ciara Janson.

I'm sure I am wrong and I haven't seen her name in the credits, but that's who I think of when I play the game. :rolleyes:

Yes! Friendship Drive, indeed. And I find the 'Cargo Scoop Retracted' message to be the most friendly. The others are really kinda harsh compared to the much calmer voice from the earlier betas.

In US military aircraft, "B******* Betty" is the standard reference to the alerting tones and synthesized voice.

I think "Elizabeth" is probably Her Cold Majesty's name. And, she is rarely amused. :) We need Michelle Dockery as Lady Mary at her coldest, or Maggie Smith at her most sarcastic, or Carson The Butler, at his most pompous.

Elite needs a "Master Caution" light for the cockpits. And a "Master Arm" switch animation for deploying hardpoints.

Nice idea, but I hope we see improvements to the reputation system and multi-player aspects of the game before resources are used on cosmetic enhancements.
