Dinosaurs Compys as corpse disposal

Your Feature Request / Idea
I think it would be a nice addition to implement compys as corpse disposal within enclosures. They should be completely self-sufficient and require no manual feeding as long as they have a steady influx of dead dinos to feast on (one dead Mamenchi should keep them fed until the next one drops). Maybe the downside of using compys would be increased risk of disease.

You're probably thinking that the compys would be too small to implement, atleast individually speaking. That's why I think they should be composed entirely of small herds, say up to ten animals, and every group works just like an individual dinosaur. They eat and move in one unit, all the time.

I don't like this idea... not one bit...

You've reduced the Compy's to an aesthetic element... a practical one, but still an aesthetic... I wouldn't want any animals that don't function as actual animals; if they can't do that with Compy's they shouldn't be added at all...

Furthermore it would take a LOT of Compy's to remove a corpse with any sort of efficiency; even a pack of 100 probably couldn't strip a sauropod carcass to the bones in a decent time frame... and then you'd still have the bones to deal with. Carrying off a corpse with a helicopter is far more efficient than letting little scavengers pick away at it.

I don't know. Imagine if compy's can't use feeders and - if not enough regular bodies - will go looking for hand held snacks (and etc., the bits they do like). I wouldn't dismiss the OP just like that because really there's no such thing as a bad 'idea' imo. It's good to explore ideas first before deciding if it works or not. +1

Actually, that was pretty much their role in the novel... they actually state they bred compys just because they were characteristic of the eras they were exhibiting and because they were scavengers and coprophagous, which helped them dispose of sauropod's poop... not because they posed any interest in terms of exhibit in itself (apparently, dinosaurs that small were not as attractive).

Let's not dwell on realism too much. It would take 4-5 Sikorskys to lift out one dead sauropod.
