concerns and grievances

Guys, guys!!

I want to rescind what I called the Supercruise bug and make an update to the interdiction.. I have not read any posts on here yet, but I wanted to say that as SOON as my next gaming session, I figured out that the throttle has to be exactly in the middle of the blue area or less.. never overshoot if that is the case. I evidently was exaggerating- to myself, even... I lied.

When it comes to interdictions, I was given advice to throttle back after engaging the victim.. so much more control over the crosshairs and approximately 80% increase in success rates!

I also completed my first bounty hunt for a wanted criminal taken from a bulletin board.. go figure :)
I should know better than to post grievances without first fleshing out every option and scenario.

Thanks for all the advice everyone.. I appreciate it. I am a NOOB and have been squeezing out enough time to get rank 4 from one week to the next, but rank 5 is going to be a lot of work... I made 1030 merits alone yesterday after work just in interdiction, so it isn't seeming like such an insurmountable task now. That will go with my already 1200 from last week... (which I assume will decay to 600 the week after if I don't reach rank 5 by thursday?)

I also read somewhere that after achieving 5, you'll only need 5000 to maintain it... is that true?

I started watching youtube videos and learned how to fly, dock, bounty hunt, etc. (After a few rage quits and retries, lol)

A self-paced in-game tutorial would be nice to have eventually.

I believe this is caused by a misconception of the throttle display. I've noticed that the bar will often jump up if I'm coming in too fast for a target. However, I believe that it's trying to convey that the ship is hard-breaking, not accelerating, since the speedometer will continue to drop. Since it's a space-ship, this still means using the FSD, which leads to a "revving-up" sound and the idea that the ship is misbehaving.

The bar seems to be meant to convey thrust power rather than speed (even though it doesn't function that way in FA Off).

My throttle was set to "toggle" by default. Things got easier when I changed it to "hold". That might help too.

My one concern that I still hold to: Developers, PLEASE allow us to get NPC wingmen! Case in point: I was in a Denton Patreus expansion system fighting in a military strike.. after using up all my shield cell banks, cannon shells, and only one dim circle for shields- I jumped out to go to the nearest station (which was less than 360 light-seconds away. I was immediately jumped by a wing of real players. The minigame was impossibly rigged as I never had a chance to get the crosshairs even close to the center of the screen for escape...

With four pips to engines, I tried running as soon as I dropped into normal space- I was overtaken by another FDL, (the other two not sure of what they were) and died a slow death as systems failed while they pounded me because his mass was preventing my jump out. I am still wondering how that was possible by a ship who should only be able to at best match my speed, let alone be faster...

I am not complaining as this is part of the game- and if I were them, I'd be celebrating too... BUT, if I had two NPCs- I could have either ran while the other two kept them occupied, or even decided to rumble! Either way- my chances of survival against overwhelming odds would have been greatly increased. I would love to battle other live opponents and deal with these unsuspecting twists in a game, but when hours of work at credits and merits are at stake, I will have to go "hide" in solo mode until this is rectified. And for someone like me who is not a fanboy/girl, there simply are just too many inconsistencies, management conflicts, and scheduling issues for me to be a part of a human wing... I am rather anti-social when it comes to social media.. I know I am not alone because the facts are facts: Open mode is hurting and something like this would help tremendously.
