Concerted Effort to get FD to fix the transition flickering?

I don't see many people complain about it but its certainly been there since the early days and its pretty annoying nobody at Frontier has looked to fix it. Maybe its an Oculus driver issue? My understanding of the cause and being able to describe it properly is limited. Should I submit this to the bug forum? Will others support it?

It seems like you get a second of viewing the frame buffer. Sometimes you see a planet flash in front of your eyes even when no planet is nearby. Sometimes you get a flash of a planet or space station that is behind you or to the side of you. I can't really explain what is going on but I am sure others must experience this.

It happens whenever you frameshift and it happens during the transition and lasts half a second. Its pretty jarring in VR and in fact only affects VR as I don't see this anomaly on a normal monitor. It has become more annoying for me in Horizons beta since it happens when you are leaving orbit and its pretty immersion breaking when you are flying up and suddenly you get a planet in your face for a split second during the transition into SC.

The problem is less apparent when transitioning in the middle of nowhere when there not much else around.

I really would like FDEV to fix this problem with VR and if any of the team are reading this perhaps you could acknowledge its existence and let us know what is holding back a fix.

Yup the problem definitely persists. I'm sort of used to it now.
Most of the time it's fairly benign. But every now'n again I get a full on WHITE!!! smack in the eyes.

I'm behind you on this, the transition is immersion breaking as it is (mostly because stopping forward motion) and this flicker in VR just make it fall below the 'kind of acceptable' threshold. I only play Elite in VR and there are a few things affecting us VR players more than the normal monitor players. I will try using SteamVR tonight to see if it's better that way: https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/3vah7s/rift_08_working_with_elite_horizons_beta/

EDIT: SteamVR way of running 0.8.0.0 was too troublesome compared to sticking to Oculus Runtime Switcher, I got it to work, but it's not worth the extra hassle at the moment IMHO. Didn't check out if frame glitch was gone, sorry.

Yeah! or you get a white flash of light! It's been there for a long time. I sometimes see it on the monitor too. I hope the oculus 1.0 SDK comes out this month and soon!

I've started seeing a one frame glitch upon exiting hyperspace too. Didn't had that before Horizons. Just before star zooming in.

I seem to get a split second of an object flashing up in front of me too... might be the exterior of my ship although it sometimes looks like something else (maybe a glitched image of my docking bay or something? May be that the camera is flickering to a different position waaaaay off from where it should be for a split second.

I noticed that the the Hyperspace jumps now have this flash when entering and exiting, this bug was reintroduced with 1.5 and Horizons, its not as noticeable due to dipping to a black screen or object most the time.

I have also started to noticed on some youtube vids of this glitch happening to those playing on monitors, although most seem to not have it from the videos I've seen.

As for this object flash thing, I think I have that as well, rarely I have what appears to be a white vertical but thick line flash over my right eye.

I have this issue too. Not a dealbreaker cuz you don't have control of your ship anyways when in hyperjump cut-scene, but it IS annoying!

Anyone submitted a bug report in 2.1?

If nobody else does I'll do a 2.1 bug report in the morning. Otherwise it will just get buried overnight.

I wonder if now that there are Vive's and CV1's out in the wild whether anybody with these devices can confirm the problem exists on those too? I suspect it does. It's a little frustrating that as a community we continue to report this bug on every release and we never get any confirmation that its on a todo list to be fixed.

I really did hope it would have been fixed in 2.1 and because it hasn't I worry the bug is being ignored.
