Conda... What did I do.

Well, thanks to the find of several Void Opal hotspots Im sorting this brand new Conda. Now since I sence I started playing I have always wanted these "Thors Hammer" these bringers of Death. Well, I spent the extra cash and A and B leveled everthing and what do I have? A g Battleship. This thing turns like a fat chick all hooped up on Peperment Schnips. My god, why did I ever fear these whales? Now to my question, how the hell do I fight this thing? Flight mode off I assume, boost turn, but these thing are bad right? Please let me know how to battle this thing.

Now its time to slap dirty drag engines, a buttload of shield boosters, engineer that and your shield generator, too... and then you have a turretboat of invincible. Contrats you attained the ability to do combat afk.

Ahhhhh....the Great End-Game Scam...

I flew one of these on the test server to...you know...test it. It was like walking with a big poopoo trapped in my flight suit.
I'm sure it's great for some things (passenger missions or mining?), but I wouldn't get one for anything that was meant to be fun.

When I first started playing there were a couple ships I was certain I wanted:

1. Imperial Cutter - Looked so good, so many internals. Turns like a block of soap on ice. I rarely fly it.
2. Imperial Clipper - Also looked so good. Handles nicely, internals are meh, hard point placement is Wednesday Thursday Friday were they thinking? I also rarely fly either of them.
3. Orca - Looked great, handles like a dream, internals are nice, hard points are good and well placed. Spend most of my time in one.

Aah, yes, "my very first time in big ship" moment. Suddenly all previous ships became fast, agile and easily handling. Big ships are totally different (well, except Clipper - this is marked as large but turns surprisingly well). So in fight instead of this:

you do this:

My Anaconda has dirty drives 5, with drag special effect.
Zero armour, just heavy duty lightweight.
Heavily modified prismatic shields, with several shield boosters.

A guardian SLF, with guass cannons.

And whatever weapon you chose.
Currently using a mix of gimballed beams and multicannons.

Nothing survives long, anything trying to run gets taken down by my SLF.

And lack of armour keeps it fairly agile for such a large ship.
Obviously, don't do PvP in it. The armour is essentially made of egg shells. Lol
Shields down = run away.

I managed to do combat (at least PvE) in a Cutter... basically, for anything more agile than yourself (so... most things :p ) you do the "reverski", which is basically flying backwards and shooting at whatever is following you. No FAOFF required. Oh and a fighter bay with a good pilot helps.

On that note, the Conda can be far more nimble than the Cutter, so there's that, especially with engineering. Also on that note - the Conda is extremely versatile, so it doesn't have to be used as a combat ship exclusively (but that's a bit OT).

Now to my question, how the hell do I fight this thing?

Time to learn how to properly fly a specship, eh?

Use all thrusters, pip management, blue zone speed, positioning. Easy peasy.
But of course the main advantage of the ship lies within its superior defenses.

Also FA off does not magically make you turn faster (well, it does to an extend...), blue zone rules still apply.

I was in the same boat, OP. The big three left me underwhelmed after the initial sugar rush. Nowadays I use them only irregulary for special tasks, like
Cutter as an armed trader
Anaconda as Thargoid scout killer
Corvette for heavy CZ combat

But generally combat is far more fun in the s/m ships. And let's not start with SC maneuverability, how people can stand doing exploration in Anacondas is a mystery to me.

Once you realize some Ships greatly benefit from active Pips Management, the Anaconda turns out quite agile.

A properly Engineered and built BattleConda is a force to be reckoned with.
But it takes experience to utilize it to its max. potential, then some more to afford continued Combat once Shield are gone.

But frankly, that's the case for almost all large ships and quite a few medium ships as well.
Purchasing one is just the 1st step on a long road of really getting to know it - and eventually successful employment in hostile environments.
Skipping or ignoring that road typically leads to rapid and unexpected Rebuy Screens.

After the updates in exploration the Anaconda is fine as you no longer have to try to get close to every planet and moon in the system to scan them so it's legendary lack of supercruise handling only affects those that want to go mapping everything as well.

Well I guess im guilty of listing to my own perceived notion's... Ok, So it handles like a turd, I guess what I would like to have then is a "Imperial Star Destroyer" What in ED is that? The Cutter? An Engineered Conda? I guess what I want is a Aww factor that strikes fear in the NPC's hear when I jump in. What is that?

Just fly backwards while vaporizing the small bugs who dare to attack you.

That'll be a Farragut you'll be wanting then.
