Engineers Conductive components..where are they

trying to find conductive components and samarium for a level 2 engine mod. I have played for hours trying to get a mission that has them as a reward. no luck. the samarium im guessing is just grabbed from a metal rich planets surface, or a mission reward, but the components...ouch 16 hours missions..nothing.

help

I'm going to be very nice to you right now..kill miners in HazRESs (yeah I felt bad too..but it's Braben making us do it!) just make sure you're not carrying cargo or you're v good at combat!

I killed a T9 then quickly scooped one & did a runner as all the ships in the system descended on me for my tasty cargo! It enabled me to get a level 3 clean drive..I've been so lucky with these mats so far (almost makes up for spending..well..since Horizons dropped, looking for Antimony!) My fully loaded Vulture now does 455 m/s hehehe!

In the engineer blueprint list of required items you can highlight the one you need and it'll tell you where to find it. If it says 'hauler ships' or some such go kill traders, etc.

Pro-tip. Drop into the ring a few million meters before the POI. There is usually miners there, and nobody else to bother you.

Ahh Frontier. spend hours to get the necessary resources to mod and engine and a shield booster. then the slider bar or destiny rolls. I got .3 engine boost (no actualy speed increase) and a bunch of things that were worse..yes the mod was worse 2 % better on heat. so I went to re roll and I guess you need resources every time you roll. I DONT have the words how insance that is cause by some clicking mouse issue I lost the rolled mod and now have nothing. back to finding everything again. HOLY CRAP that needs some modifying.

the shield boost which could by as high as 35%..wow that looks good great. wrong the slider of destiny gave me 21.5...that's right 1.5% more gain for literally over 20 hours of work. F^&^ING developers are playing with us.

heh im not happy as you can see

I went to a NAV point and after targeting a pirate or wanted ship and getting plenty of help from the locals, what I need was left over. I stopped, lowered cargo scoop, sent out the drones and picked up lots of stuff I needed including the OP's requirements.

To avoid the heavy fines associated with killing traders, drop in to an Anarchy system where everyone shoots everyone and kill some traders to get the stuff.

I am having very bad luck with this. 1st. finding things is taking me 20+ hours for rank 1 mods... ouch. then the last 3 mods have been in the 1-5 percentile. the power plant I just did 5 min ago gave me a whooping 0 increase in power but a loss In the other 2 areas...so technically I downgraded my powerplant.     what kind of morons balanced this process this way. I cant believe any normal person who wants people to enjoy a game would make it take soo long and then provide no reward. at least way the SLIDER OF FATE to the 50% to 100% margin so we definatly get something.
good god im mad

I have noticed that the sliders are linked. I tried about 10 upgrades to my shield boosters, engines and powerplant, and the good vs bad sliders tended to be balanced. If I got a high good quality, the magnitude of the bad qualities would be correspondingly equal. I lucked out once where this wasn't the case, but the distribution of stats does seem to depend on more than a single roll. This of course makes the chance of getting a positive level 1 upgrade unlikely.

Loads of conductive components by killing ships at the Aphra nav beacon, which is easy because there's loads of cops to help you. Don't take any cargo there, otherwise you'll keep getting attacked by pirates, when you@re trying to scoop the stuff.
