How embarrassing... first time ever.
My alt just got destroyed by Explorer's Anchorage station, after 2 months in the black, losing several billion credits. Because I haven't landed at a station for a couple of years, I got totally foxed and entered the mailslot too late, then couldn't get back out in time. Ouch. Clumsy. Stupid. Gets beer and quietly weeps. Then cheers up a bit and confesses.

We've all done that. I once spent 6 months doing an around the galaxy trip, you can imagine how nervous I was manually docking for the first time after that. Made it ok, but other time I have lost quite a bit doing silly stuff, life goes on!

Recently I made a suggestion post about making the ship warn you that you are trying to enter a station without asking for permission first.

That suggestion was, for some reason I cannot really comprehend, almost unanimously disagreed with.

Yet, it would be so helpful to deter these cases. And it would even work perfectly well with the in-universe technology (after all, the ship already warns you eg. if you try to land on a landing pad without deploying your landing gear first.)

(And no, the current message you get when you try to enter without permission comes way too late. There's just no way to stop your ship and put it in reverse fast enough. At a very minimum you'll get a fine. At worst, well, we saw it here.)

Yep, that was part of my problem. I'm so used to landing on carriers that the station mailslot discombobulated me :(

ugh i really feel for ya CMDR ... i fly my Type-10 a lot , because for some reason it makes me feel i'm flying a very slow 'Millenium Falcon' lol , and anyways i get super nervous literally everytime i have to land at mailslot type stations. No matter if my cargo is full or just full of limpets lol

Worst is when the station loudspeaker NPC message person says "All clear to land!" , then 2 seconds later i see 2 random ships about to ram into me ! ( ai trying to destroy me? )

Question btw: During your 2 years of Exploration , you mentioned how you only landed ever on Fleet Carriers? So does this mean, out there wherever far you went , there's not ANY landable space stations nor pads anywhere?
