Configurable Small Calibre Munitions (Advanced Multicannon)!!

It will be a new MC from Ram Tah given the Galnet hints. It uses standard mats for nornal use, but premium ammo uses a guardian blueprint.
It will shoot bullets, and as you have already been reading, a load of salt.

another possibility is that it allows you to somehow engineer multiple effects on "regular" ammo and switch between them in outfitting ratuer than having to keep multiple MCs with different effetcs?

due to grind requirements my gameplay rule (and Im not the only one) is if it requires synthesis I'm nit doing it.

Aside from the VERY occasional basic FSD boots and basic srv fuel/ammo reload I've never used synthesis and never participated in gameplay that requires it. In fact I gave up my AX efforts because I got bored with Cyclopses and pretty much all the other ones require synthesis to solo. If FDev starts locking more content behind the synthesis grindwalls I'm out.

Don't think so, most likely normal MC and AX MC when using premium ammo.

Yeah but using Guardian stuff as ammo?
Nope.
Also let us engineer our old AX weapons.
That stuff that's in game and doing nothing cause nobody uses it.

Are we ever going to be able to engineer Guardian stuff?
New stuff is great and all but I'd rather utilise what we have than spend precious dev time on more modules.
That being said if these multicannons come in gimballed and the recipe is not onerous (like how they appeased explorers with the jumponium recipe) then I could be tempted.

I can only see two outcomes from forcing a grind for ammo for a cool new weapon:

Players will do the grind and will hate Frontier for making them do another grind;

Players won't do the grind and will hate Frontier for making them choose to forgo a cool new weapon.

The outcome I don't see is anyone getting unalloyed pleasure from this.

Why oh why does anyone at Frontier think that making the player base hate them is the best way to keep the game alive for the next eighteen months?

Guardian modules and AX weapons should have their own separate engineering (if anyone wants it) thread... I'd add special effects against aliens not againstt human vessels as the situation in PvP is already screwed. Same for modules, besides these are likely to be more used in cross-play (I mean human combat vessels using Guardian MRPs or human explo vessels using the FSD Boosters).

Unalloyed? Why are the weapons made from carbon fibre or some other space material? ;)

Also where did people find this info?

Never mind just clicked the blue text!

Just looked at the configurable missiles:
6 phosphorus
4 arsenic
2 mercury
1 G power cell
1 G power cond
1 G weapon blueprint

Weapon blueprints no! They take ages to collect!
That is also a LOT of stuff required.
If they kept it to maybe 2 G power cells and conduits I could live with that.

they will need to give us something to fight the larger daddy thargoids, the ones we have seen to date are all interceptors, somewhere will be a battlecruiser or carrier.
lets see how it pans out, as long as you can reload in a station it will be all good, we may not need to synth all the time using guardian items.

"Due to the on going war against the Thargoids we have developed amazing new technology to fight them! The ax ammo can not be bought but requires you to run around the still active bases of a long dead civilisation gathering their left over data for days if you plan on a sustained engagement.
The push back against the Thargoid death machine begins! In a couple of months when our forces are fully stocked!"

This means of getting Guardian stuff easier will have to be something brilliant.

FYI. The synthesis requires a Guardian Weapon Blueprint Fragment.
Which may be different to the Guardian Weapon Blueprint Segment we collect from guardian bases.
Good spotting.

My theory: you only need to have 1 Guardian Weapon Blueprint to enable this recipe, and synthesising the ammo does not consume any of the Guardian Weapon Blueprint data.

So, effectively, unlock once grants infinite synthesis as long as you have 1 blueprint in your data store.

Not sure where you got "Segment" from... but short version, it's the same as the stuff we collect from guardian bases. Synthesis menu (showing my current volumes) matched against my current data holdings.

Hopefully, and more likely, we get a xeno-commodity trader, and can trade more common items/data for blueprints.

Yeah but at what exchange rate!?
Cause the normal material traders are absoloute thieves!
Now if we have, as part of the Interstellar Initiatives, a goal to dump a load of Guardian stuff and then Guardian stuff can be purchased from this new mega ship I can live with that. Say a million for a G5 Guardian item.
I have six billion total assets and all the ships I want (and for some reason a Cobra MKIV) I don't need to make money cause I have nothing to spend it on.
So what incentive have I got to keep engaging with the game, in terms of activities to make money, when I have nothing to spend it on?

Would much rather see it use Guardian Data than Blueprints. I have a terabytes of the stuff on my ship's computer, and no use for it since I finished unlocking guardian modules.
