Conflict Zone and Settlement question.

Hi everyone,

Couple of quick questions.

1. I noticed when doing ground conflict zones that when I call my shift after the battle, sometimes it comes right above me, I can hit "e" and get right into the ship. Other times it lands 700+ meters away and it takes a couple minutes to run there. How do you get it to appear above you each time? Is there a spot or trick to this?

2. For settlements, I am in an Anarchy system and some settlements you can take out enemies with no bounty. Others look the same, but I get a bounty. Is there a way to tell before you attack if you will get a bounty or not in a particular settlement? Again, I am in an Anarchy system (I know settlements have their own law). How do you tell if each settlement will give you a bounty or not?

Thanks for the help. Hope that all makes sense.

I don't know of a way to get your ship to hover above you, and when I use my ship I normally have to hide it, or run / bunny jump to it.

Regarding bounties, you have to check the affiliation of the settlement you're about to attack. If it's not anarchy then you'll get bounties for killing their staff (even in an anarchy system). However in an anarchy system you can generally shoot any ship without getting bounties (unless you do it close to some lawful station or settlement).

Okay, thanks for the help. Somehow, after the battle, twice it appeared above me like a shuttle. I just hit "E" and was able to just teleport to the ship right above me. That was fun lol.

For settlements, I'll see if I can figure it out. I usually click the settlement to look. I'm just missing it somewhere.

Thanks again.

I usually just have a quick look at the reputation panel to see which is the local anarchy faction (if it's not obvious from their name), then look for settlements where they are the owner. You could also search in Inara.

If you are choosing Ody missions to drive your destinations, anything with a purple icon is naughty. A settlement raid with a non-purple icon is hitting an anarchy/criminal faction and doesn't have any bounty/notoriety implications.

If a ship or shuttle is unable to land, it may hover and you can still enter/teleport in by standing where the blu cylinder would be.

If you look at the system map you can see what settlements belong to each faction by clicking on the faction icon on the left.

But I agree, some information ought to be a bit more visible and better presented.. It would also be nice to have an indicator in the HUD indicating that your present jurisdiction is anarchy.

A ship will land where it thinks it's fit to land. If you spend a bit of time flying around low enough with gear deployed, to get the ground radar thingy on your scanner, and watching the "landing OK" telltale, you can develop a bit of sense as to how "flat" a piece of ground needs to be before the ship is willing to decide to be friends with it. (Note, doesn't need to be flat flat, it's usually happy with a slope... it's the bobbly bits it's really sensitive to. Maybe "even" is a better word.) Recalling it is further complicated by the fact it won't land on you so you need to be near the good ground, not standing at the exact centre of it.

Thanks for this. So obvious about the purple, but I missed that. That makes it easier when choosing missions so you can blast away.

C'mon guys you can answer this for the OP if you try

We know the OP doesn't pay much attention to their screen, so they probably wouldn't notice if they were being picked up in a Vulture or an Adder - I bet it's that :)

It's not the Apex shuttle. It's my ship. When I land, it departs (my ship). A couple times when I've recalled it I've been able to take it right there in the settlement. It hovers above my spot, I get the message "hit E to board" and it lets me take my personal ship that way.

Not a major issue as it was answered above, and I'm done farming conflict zones for the 10 completed engineer unlock. Was just curious since it is incredibly convenient that way. Just clarifying.

Sometimes your ship just helpfully "forgets" that its not meant to land at a settlement in conflict and does the hovering thing (because there's buildings and stuff in the way). It would be great if we could do it on demand but it's really just a bug.
