Conflict zone has only federation ships attacking

I just jumped into a Conflict zone, i got a mission from a port in Sol, but everyone in the conflict zone was attacking each other but everyone was with the federation. So i attacked one guy and about half turned on me. So i guess its a side faction or something. I dunno, has anyone else had this happen?

Was that conflict zone in Barnard's Star, by any chance? There's a civil war going on in there.

You can pick your faction before firing a shot.....or you could in the beta. Haven't found a combat zone since I left the starter areas.

I could choose factions when i was in Barnards star, thats weird.

im neutral with everyone else except the Federation. Ill check again when I go back. do you get money for kills?
