With the introduction of spec ops, and various other things to do that can kill you quickly, the pay for CZs is feeling even lower than normal.
Hull, hybrid tanks, and ammo based ships suffer even more due to repair and rearm costs and ammo-less ships suffer with significantly higher TTK.
I just did 4 runs in to a CZ I my Anaconda. It's a sort of hybrid build, with a good shield, but very very good armour. Once the shield is down, it usually stays down for ages because it's a prismatic.
Anyhoo, my first run in a CZ netted me a whopping 650k.... Lol
For possibly 30~ minutes.
My rearm and repair was about 120k
Profit 530~k
My second run, went horribly wrong (I seem to get the attention of all the spec ops, and everyone else!), and I bailed early, took heavy damage.
My pay was 400k
Repair and rearm came to 700k
A 300k loss! In 20 minutes.
My third run went about the same as the first. ~500k profit.
And my last run went well, I made 1.1mil, and about 350k repair and rearm.
750k profit.
All in about an hour and a half, I made...

Roughly 1,480,000cr from bonds.
Considering I nearly died once (37mil rebuy!), and CZs are not a safe way to make money, that is ever so pathetic.
I can do 15 minutes in a RES and earn more.
Or find 1t Void Opals.
Or scan 1 average system.
I don't trade, but I'm sure some single hop trade run in an Anaconda pays more.
Simple missions pay more. Lots more.
But wait, missions!
Yes, I took a mission. A wing mission, because oddly, wing missions pay more, to do less!
So that added 14mil on top of my earnings, but I needed to kill 36 ships, which due to the TTK, and rearming times, can take over an hour.
Here's the funny part, if I'd taken a solo mission for 14 mil, I'd have to kill 60 ships!
I don't understand the logic in that. Lol
TL: DR,
1) CZ kills don't pay anywhere near enough per kill.
2) Risk is extremely high compared to any other activity in the game.
3) TTK is very high.
4) Solo Missions demand ridiculously high kill counts, which paired with the TTK can basically mean that's your day gone in 1 mission, and the pay isn't that great.
5) Wing mission have low kill counts compared to the same paying solo mission.
My suggestion is for 1,2, & 3, increase pay per kill.
All kills should be paying 3-4x as much per kill, and spec ops should be paying 5-6 times per kill, and a bond bonus for killing all 4.
Solo Missions kill counts should be lower, so they don't require a full day to complete. Lol
As a general rule, I'd say for every 1m the mission is worth, 2 kills should be required.
So a 14mil mission would be 28 kills, instead of 60.
I'd also suggest the material "pay" is increased, 4 units of a grade 5 is rather low for an 80 kill count missions. It should be 10-15, IMHO.
Wing missions kill counts can stay the same.
With all this combined, CZ pay should then be actually rather good. Not vood opal good, but "good".
For me, and my ship, this would equate to roughly;
8-10mil per hour in just bonds. (Minus repairs).
Then about 14-20mil per hour in missions, depending on how quickly you can kill.
For a late game player like myself, that'd feel like good money, but not game breaking.
Also lower kill counts on missions means you're no longer potentially locked in to one activity for multiple gaming sessions.
I don't mind if 80 kill missions exist, they just need to pay a lot more for the "inconvenience" of being locked in to it.
80 kills would pay 40m instead of 24mil, plus higher paying bonds.
