Conflict Zones ... worth the trouble?

Having tried out a few stints in the high conflict zones, I wonder if they are worth the trouble.

Yes they can be exciting with furious battling but it somehow seems wrong that even Pythons and Anacondas only net you 3K!! It costs more than that to re-arm my projectile weapons after a fight not to mention any other damages.

Surely the latter 2 must be worth 10K a pop at least.

I agree 3k for any kill is silly..why bother wasting ammo on the big stuff when you can smash up 4-5 smaller ships and be way ahead on money.

Conflict Zones are not meant for you to make money. They're meant for you to influence the political sphere in that system.

It's still enough money to cover repairs and ammo plus a tip if you don't suck balls.

Fix your expectations.

How naive of you to expect people to have such charitable instincts. When you are fight in such zones you are a mercenary and mercenaries get paid. The OP was simply saying that the current across the board bounty of 3K isn't balanced well and I agree.

...also, civil wars generally occur following a period of economic boom in a system (something that people are now realising can be rather lucrative...), so (and I haven't tested this out yet, I intend to in the next few days), can you help turn the tide of war until peace is restored, possibly going back to the boom times, and reap the benefits?

e: all that said, I personally believe bounties (and in particular rewards for killing ships in conflict zones) are way too low in any case - I'm just pointing out that there are other benefits to these gameplay systems than purely money making

Bounties could be related to the target ships insurance value, modified by the target experience level.

This same could go with the bounty hunting + value for the "crimes" they made.

Yea ammo cost vs contract pay is pretty bad. I'm just using just Lasers in conflict zones now to loose the ammo overhead. They work just fine.

Except that you don't. How many targets I kill in a combat zone has zero influence on any faction in the system. I'll go back into combat zones as soon as prices are scaled with the ships or they are full of easy-to-pop federal / imperial fighters, Sidewinders or Eagles ONLY. THOSE I will fight for 3000 cr a piece, no problem. I won't engage anything up from a Viper for that spare change.

Except that you do. Yes, killing ships in that conflict zone DOES have an impact. There are missions to grab at local stations to kill ships on one side or another. That's part of the payout and it influences the faction control level.

Conflict zones and missions are low-profit objectives meant to help influence the tide of political control of the system.

I'm sorry that you can't accept that.

If you're interested in making more money, then consider alternative actions in-game.

Wrongo. Those missions simply tell you to kill a certain number of ships from any faction you want. They don't specify which. Reputation gains from those missions are known to be wildly inconsistent and none of them seem to change faction influence at all. Try not to pretend to be an expert if you aren't one.

It's pretty silly at the moment definitely. It seems to me the simple way to fix things would be to go like this:

Eagle - 3000 cr
Viper - 6000 cr
Cobra -12000 cr
Asp - 24000 cr
Anaconda - 48000 cr

Or something along those lines (and yes I know I left some ships out). As it is conflict zones are just bad. Hunting pirates is far more lucrative.
