Conflict Zones

I can accept change, if the change is for the better.

I have a fully engineered Krait MkII (minus Guardian stuff) and I am getting owned in CZs now. Those spec ops target me immediately as they enter the fight, just me. None of my comrades help me, but they keep shouting at me that we're losing - well yes, because I'm tied up trying to take down these four/five Elite engineered pests! At the same time there's a 2nd task of taking down three 'Competent' propaganda ships (I forget their proper name...). Ok, so I ignore the spec ops because I'm wasting ammo on their tanky shields and hulls anyway, but find these Competent ships are also shield and hull tanked! I have to boost shields three times before I take down one Competent ship because of the spec ops.

Wow, I thought, CZs are hard now, great stuff. I have to jump out, repair and rearm, but when I return everyone's disappeared!

I can't avoid the additional tasks by going into Medium or Low CZs with my Krait because I become the biggest threat and every enemy turns on me. So I'm stuck with High CZs in my Krait. I won three rounds yesterday, checked the tick today, winning three rounds made no difference, in fact I'm worse off now. But I can't win more rounds when I have to wait an hour between respawns. Oh and I cashed in about 7 mil in bonds... they don't seem to effect anything either.

I love that combat has been given some love and attention but I think Devs have gone too far. The engineered spec ops enemies are a great idea but are too OP. Once they engage, I can't win that round. I have to leave to rearm, and then have to wait for NPCs to respawn. I can't use all lasers because their hulls are already tanked and a corrosive MC doesn't seem to have any effect so I can't imagine how long it would take to crack a hull without the corrosive!

I'd say I'm above average on the skill chart and I wouldn't call the Krait II a non-powerful ship with three Large hardpoints.

Are you saying CZs are no good unless I have a Conda and Guardian Tech?

So the recent update means that PvP style murder boats are needed to boss a high intensity CZ? Seems alright to me. Maybe a Krait is no longer a viable ship for these areas. Agree with Cmdr Ultra here- this is the biggest combat challenge the game can throw at us. I don't think multi-purpose ships should do well here.

They are not OP - they are there to provide a challenge to skilled Cmdr's and / or powerful ships.
This.
I'm doing high CZs in a maxed out G5 combat built vulture and I'm loving the extra hard hitting NPCs. Can take a while to get their shields down and chew through their hull but I'm finding it way more fun and challenging compared to how it used to be. I can complete 2-3 high CZs before I need to head back to the station for more MC ammo...but technically I could just synth the ammo in the CZ and carry on.
I was actually thinking last night that while the NPCs now have a boost in defence and attack capabilities it would be nice to see the AI turned up a little bit more.
I've also used my Krait in all levels of CZs and didn't notice any mass ganking by the NPCs as you mentioned. Maybe I was lucky.

I brought a Vette into a medium intensity to check things out and didn't get mobbed for showing up, start out with the easy targets to get some quick kills and offer your team a numbers advantage. If the elites are taking too long, just ignore them and take out the easier ships until the opposing sides numbers are down some, then when you see allies engaging the elites, join in to help them. In the high intensity I've done most in my Chieftain, and the only time I got mobbed is when I jumped in and went strait to the opposition's Vette. If you hit a target that gets you a bunch of agro, just boost away for a bit and come back, they'll give up on you shortly.

So far as progress on the tick, I went a couple of days on one before I saw a change in who was winning, then it shifted some. Not sure if it is working as intended, but there didn't seem to be rhyme or reason as to when it updated.

The OP could have got unlucky and found themselves by a spawn area. Given that Krait's shields aren't the best, npcs carrying PAs would do some serious damage. Wonder if this is a hot running ship, as that would get their attention too.

What's your fitting? "Fully Engineered" doesn't really mean much unless you've got reasonable fittings and good engineering.

I regularly take down High-Intensity CZs in my Krait, can even take down the capital ships. Spec Ops do need some careful planning, but I find your best bet is to take out the normal ships, then pick off the spec ops one by one when they aren't operating as a group. Just for weapons, I run 1 x C3 Beam Laser W/ G5 Overcharge and Thermal Vent, 2 x C3 Multicannons w/ G5 Overcharge (or whatever it's called), one w/ Autoloader, other with Corrosive Rounds, and 2x C2 Guardian Shard Cannons... Then I mix a shield and armour tank all running G5 heavy duty or equivalent.

But I can't win more rounds when I have to wait an hour between respawns

Just leave and re-enter the zone.

With 2x large beams with thermal vent, I'm mostly below 30%. Shields aren't the best but I thought they'd last longer than they have been, especially being g5 engineered and resists over 50%. I mean before the update I could stay in High CZ and Haz Res for a long time and rarely need to use cell banks. Now, in CZs anyway, I'm out of cell banks before ammo (3x MCs). Maybe the balance is still settling, who knows.

I tried leaving and re-entering, logging out and in again, going from CZ to CZ, NPCs still aren't respawning.

So, not heat then. If the npcs did have PAs the resistances wouldn't help as much, but that wouldn't be every npc. Difficult to say given that others can back up what I said about the Krait in a CZ as being incorrect. Perhaps this does go back to bad luck in this case

I've literally just tried a High CZ in my beloved Vulture. No problems except taking longer to kill. No ganking, spec ops left me alone, won the round easy enough.

Maybe it was just bad luck in the Krait, I'll have to keep trying. I read ages ago that CZs work on level of threat; free NPCs automatically target the biggest threat on the enemy side. Maybe for those three rounds in High CZ I was literally the biggest threat there and attracted the attention.

Not an expert myself, but there are occasions where you are taking fire from 5 or 6 enemy. Just have to get out of there fast and reengage at your own terms. You may just happen to be the biggest threat in the nearby area.

I'm in solo and am starting to learn how to fly with your allies and responding to the audio comms on special situations and scenarios.

Yeah... the new mechanics are awesome, I think..

Sometimes you get drawn far away from allies and can find yourself swarmed, but I'd had good luck with boosting toward and through the pack of allies and allowing them to draw off one or two enemies.

Actually I kinda thought the difficulty was lowered or something after the first day or so... it was really challenging the first couple rounds... but maybe I adjusted that quickly, idk...

For sure you have to have a good handle on your engineering for that environment (for instance, I'm thinking that some high resistance shields are better than simply high MJ shields)... but I've flown both a Vette and a Vulture through the High Intensity CZ's with very good luck... and much more enjoyment.

I have no complaints about the difficulty levels of the new CZs ... and i like the new battle challenges and stuff.. but the whole thing is BROKEN... after you kill the enemy captain, or kill the wing of SpecOps.. or make the Battle cruiser leave, there are no more enemy pilots that spawn, and you loose or abandon the battle, un-won, because it is bugged and there are no more targets at all. and then... Fdev went on Christmas Vacation... Yep. Nice.

We used to drop into a CZ and there was... COMBAT going on… now you go in and NOTHING happens till you choose a side.. maybe... and then the targets dry up and never come back to complete the battle.

Yeah I’ve had a terrible time of it since the update. Enemy ships are still easy kills but that’s when they spawn. They haven’t spawned in a while.

I have spent a lot of time in the CZ's and I like the Spec Ops ships.

I didn't have too much trouble but you have to have the right tool for the job.
