Conflict zones

Just had my first taste of a conflict zone in LHS 1914. It was fun as I am not a brave soul at the best of times. Couple of observations:

1. It feels unbalanced, i.e. I didn't get multiple bogeys on my 6 (so to speak!) but I noticed the enemies I was fighting did have multiple attackers.
2. Every reward I got regardless of the type of ship and pilot skill (all NPC) was the same. I would have expected the reward to scale somewhat with the toughness of the opponent.

What are your thoughts about this? I only tried a low intensity zone an an experiment, but will definitely get into the high intensity zones later. Are they any different in behaviour?
