Conflict Zones

Am I missing something with these as everyone I visit be high or low intensity has only one faction in it. and even if I join that faction and hang around nothing seems to happen. do I need to take a mission at a station or meet someone in a USS to activate these things?

Depends where you are the conflict zones in Sol have only one faction I believe (content to be added) but LHS 1914 has several conflict zones that work fine just choose a faction and get moving (fast! LOL)

The relative strength of the factions in the system seems to be a factor. From what I've seen the stronger the opponents are the more lively the conflict. If the opponent is something like 2% or so they just don't have any meaningful strength.
