{CONFUSED ABOUT TRACKIR?} Buying comes with choices..

People keep asking me about the choices for TrackIR.. this should help answer questions about the two versions..

I have accidently dropped my headset multiple times and my Pro-Clip has not broken yet.

I have also hit it countless times while forgetting it is on when going for a head scratch or touch (something we all do unconsciously).

I prefer my Proclip to Hat Clip. It is just a matter of preference. The Hat Clip has more problems in direct light (window behind you etc.)

I should probably upgrade the list of things to think about.. the room light is a good point, but I live in a man-cave where nobody else can rip down my fully blacked out curtains due to how ugly they are.. :) (double that light blocking capability with a set of venetian blinds.)

I recently picked it up for Elite (as I upgraded my computer). I got with the pro clip (which also comes with the hat clip) and it seems to work great, except in bright daylight with the window behind me. I haven't used the hat clip since I hate wearing a hat, though. For the most part it seems fine, though looking up sticks a lot of times. That's probably due to the angle of the device since my monitors are higher on my desk.

Does one of the options track better than the other?

There are not that dissimilar, really, and if you can't afford the Clip the reflector cap attachment is perfectly good. I do think, however, that the TrackClip makes the performance a little snappier and precise

Attachment is also a factor. If you don't use Teamspeak or VoiceAttack or something else that requires a microphone, then you don't need to wear headphones to start with, and that's the obvious and preferred way to mount the TrackClip. If you do wear headphones and can afford the extra expense I'd say the TrackClip is the better choice.
