confused.. imperial eagle

Am I missing something? Why isn't there an imperial ship thats worth buying for a high class fighter? I mean.. Why the hell would I buy an Imperial eagle when I have a vulture? :/

It just seems to me like they added another noob ship to the game.when one wasn't needed

I wish I could fly an iEagle, but refuse to join the empire for it.

Every ship they've added since the fdl and vulture has been completely pointless, I'd expect the trend to continue.

I fly a vulture , but from time to time I will go back to my old eagle or viper because they are fun ships to fly.
plus having a new ship adds it to the galaxy so you get to see other NPCs and CMDRs use it...

and I bet an eagle under the hands of an ace pilot could kill an good anaconda pilot

Well, DBS is pretty decent and Assault ship does look like a vulture with more firepower and speed (and less shields and maneuverability), so...

I havent yet to try it myself. But considering the other two fed ships. I think you post. Point. Is completely invalid and a waist of forum space. That assult and gunship look hella nice on paper. Ive tested out the assult ship. Wont be giving up my Python anytime soon. Next is gunship. But no matter I am the empire. But on beta testing its nice to know what your up agaist

If FD releases expensive ships, people complain FD caters only to hardcore grinders. If FD releases cheaper ships people complain its only for 'noobs'. :)

Sorry OP, but the only noob ship is the Sidewinder, after that there's only noob players.

The ship you're flying has nothing to do with your skill in the game, remember its a sandbox.

Well, that's what I thought when they introduced the Courier. Anyway, I bought one just for curiosity and you know what? It's actually FUN to fly that little fighter into a HiRES and blow things up! Sure, you can get the job done quicker in a Vulture, but that's just a job to grind credits... the Courier left me with a silly smile on my face - it earns it's insurance in minutes so you can fly it quite recklessly - which i do and I didn't buy the farm once. No offence though, everyone to his/her own.

To the OP's question: Why would the Empire need another medium fighter when it already has the Imperial Courier?

Just some thoughts on the growing number of ship types:

- More ship types in the game simply fulfill a demand. Many players remember FE2 and FFE and want at least as many ship types in the game.
- Maybe FD is slowly developing major faction identity by introducing slightly redundant ship classes with a faction flavour.
- AFAIK FD is still pondering how to deal with outfitting costs. Should they decide to reintroduce costs for changing ship loadouts, players may respond by buying and equipping mission-specific ships&loadouts. In that case, there can hardly be enough variety.

Um, doesn't anyone else think that it's so fast is a big deal?

We finally have another ship that can compete with the Cobra for speed.

I don't mind losing a little agility for more lightning in a straight line :)

I didn't even try very hard and got one boosting to 420 m/s.

The one thing is she can't boost continuously like the Cobra... even with an A-rated power distributor, she still needs some time to catch her breath after two boosts in quick succession. So it's short burst of speed, or more evenly applied boosts to maintain a high cruising speed.

She also looks and sounds beautiful.

And a nice limited buyback makes her seem ideal for racing and that glorious speed means it works for fast hit and run and controlling engagements with range.

We have another supremely fast ship... and that makes me very very happy. :)

My net worth is over 400 million credits at this point and I've been flying an FDL in combat since a few weeks after 1.2 dropped, but I have still been looking forward to the Imperial Eagle.

Variety at the low to mid range is exactly where it's needed most.

Um, doesn't anyone else think that it's so fast is a big deal?

The Imperial Eagle's speed is by far it's biggest improvement over the base Eagle.

I doubt you'll need rank for it as it's so small! And ICourier is only master. (Both the vulture and the eagle are made by Core dynamics who make the Fed ships)

When I take on assassinations in my Courier they're really easy, however I've never been able to do it in my vulture.

In racing vipers can win too!

Well the thing is that right now I am flying 3 different Anacondas for the three types of Pilots ranks. At the low and medium spectrum there is already variety. At the high end not as much.

But most of their playbase is flying something closer to the cobra, and very little are in Anacondas. We'll get more big ships, but they are providing ships realistically where the majority of the market is. There are far more varieties of economy/family cars than super cars because far more people can afford to use them. Plus, you can buy an iEagle (but I'll tell Hudson on you!) if you want, not true of the future big ships for people living in Cobras and Vipers. So from a playbase population/ships in pricerange comparison, the low end is still probably deficient for variety.

But I am looking forward to 1.5 with high anticipation with the hope of more big ships.

I like lots of ships and ship variety :)

I don't think that it is pointless - although I don't believe in the Empire ethos so I will not be getting one.
