Congo Animal Pack

While Cane Rats are cool, replace that guy with an African Forest Elephant and we're in the money!
Poaching, habitat loss push Africa's elephants to the brink
Spot the difference!

I like this idea, but I feel African leopards would be a welcome ninth addition to this list. They are the apex predators of Africa's rainforest regions, after all, in addition to being one of the Big Five.

African leopards are one of the least common leopard subspecies in captivity. The Big Five is also an outdated concept not really relevant to zoos.

"Least common in captivity" =/= should never be featured in Planet Zoo. I'm sure there are plenty of animals already in the game which you don't see as often in zoos IRL.

There are a bunch of leopard subspecies more suitable for Planet Zoo. The Amur and the Persian (or Arabian, one of the two) are both more frequent in captivity than the African and far more significant to global conservation efforts. The Sri Lankan and North Chinese leopards are also more endangered and more common in captivity.

I haven't yet seen a compelling argument as to why the African leopard should take priority.

I never said other leopard subspecies couldn't be represented as well. We already have both the Siberian and Bengal tiger subspecies, for example. I just would like an African leopard to complete any African rainforest section I might build in my zoos, since they are the apex predator in Africa's rainforest regions like I said (lions aren't going to cut it since they don't live in the rainforest). Or, alternatively, I might want an African leopard because I'd like to have all the iconic African Big Five in my zoo. It's not like there's zero demand or zero utility for the African subspecies whatsoever.

Of course, they could always simply add a generic "leopard" to represent all the subspecies out there.

Either the African Leopard or The Indian Leopard is ok with me, if you think about it, the Indian Leopard looks like the African Leopard except it’s coat is little bit darker than the African Leopard, I’m not trying to be mean but I agree with you an African Leopard would be a welcome addition to Planet Zoo or the Indian Leopard

Plus in my home state we have a safari called Hollywild and look at what they have as one of the animals
