Connection issues - magenta Krait among others

Hi. Relatively new to the game (well compared to many who have been playing for years). All been great until this morning. I was playing no problem last night, logged out in the usual way but when I've come to log back in today I can't get the game to load.
I'm running on PC via Steam. I start the game as normal but every 'loading' screen takes about a minute. When I finally get to the main menu it takes another couple of minutes for the Server box to go from connection error to displaying the latest news. I start the game in solo and then get the "logging in" screen with the spinning wheel for another couple of minutes. I then get the orange holo of my ship spinning for another couple of minutes then "game loading" then connection error and then usually the Magenta Krait error or Scarlet Krait and once the orange Sidewinder.
I've tried all the suggestions in the help topics - set MTU to 1500 (it already was), reboot router (350MB Virgin Media), reboot computer, update Nvidia drivers, load via Horizons (same issue), verify game files in both Steam and via the Manage option on loading screen - nothing has made a difference.
This happens every time I've tried this morning.
I've created a tracker and it's just sat at 'confirming'. Not sure if that means it's being looked at or not, I've not had an email to confirm or ticket number?
It's so frustrating when you don't get much time to play and when you do you can't get on. I'm sure anyone that's had issues will appreciate.
Thought I'd try on these forums to see if anyone has a fix.

you know that Thursday morning (EU Timezone) there is a scheduled server downtime whare frontier updates their bgs stuff. exact times should be available on frontiers website or somewhere here. probably try again later
Thanks for the response. I would agree this could be the issue except the server note on the loading screen suggests the cservers are good'?

The Thursday tick occurs at 09:00 game time.

The server status notes are not always right however my experience is with the direct FDev loader as I don’t have Steam so that might not be the case for you.

Quick update. This is now solved. I went from the above issue to the cannot authenticate issue. I've disabled my virus protection (Avast) and I can log in no problem. Not sure what could have changed from when I logged off last night and everything was working but hey ho. Thanks to those that responded.
