Conservation Pack Pros and Cons

So much cons about the Leopard here which is somehow a bit strange as it was number 1 animal with a bigger difference to the number 2 species. I know it is a personal view but looking at it in a General view its inclusion cannot be a con (not going into some peoples issues about its model but which seems totally fine to me). We wanted that frontier listens to us and now we got number 1 and number 2 along with a gibbon (even if its not the most popular gibbon species). Along with it the Axolotl comes to us as one of the (Perhaps the most) popular exhibit animals.

So another pro for the pack:
Frontier listens to its community in case of animals they chose.

From an objective standpoint, your completly right.
No doubts about that.
It was the most wanted animal by a mile and frontier Listend, something we can applaud them for.

But this thread isnt about our objective opinions but our subjective one.
And the Leopard is very easy to be disliked or to be disinterested in because its inclusion has valid objective criticism, which obviously arnt saying it should be excluded from the game, but its the reason why i and someothers are uninterested in it.
And those are simply that it brings nothing new to the table gameplay wise.
It looks like a slim Jaguar with the same niche as the Siberian Tiger and shares both visual and gameplay overlap with the much more distinct snow leopard.
From both a gameplay and visual standpoint you can describe the leopard as a "clone" animal that doesnt add anything new besides now existing.
You could swap your Jaguars out for them or put them in your siberian tiger habitat and no one would notice.

But ofcourse im still happy for everyone who wanted it, i personally just would have prefered no clone without any new gameplay in the 4+1 dlc and rather im 7+1, but now that we have it its fine, just not exciting and a quite literal meh animal for me.

😂😂 I’m actually debating replacing my Amur Tigers with them in my Florida zoo because I already have bengals there

Oh, I forgot one con: another timed scenario. I want normal ones, no timed.
Agree, i tried the first one, failing obviously and it was stressing, never tried timed scenarios since then and it'a shame since i enjoyed playing the Pz campaign. We need the possibility to decide if we want time or play normally.

Pro - Przewalski's Horse
Pro - Backstage type items.
Pro - The building theme looks nice
Pro - New foliage and flowers look nice.

Pro - We're getting a leopard/ Con - I wish it were the shaggier Amur Leopard coat.
Pro - We're getting a gibbon/Con - It has strange eyes (I don't see much of picking up on this so maybe that's just my opinion)
Pro - Cute statues/Con - that go with absolutely nothing else theme wise.

Con - We're getting another African Antelope. What....? I've made my opinions about the overabundance of African Antelopes clear, so it should be no surprise that's my opinion on it.
Con - Focus on Asia and Africa again, when they could have picked another animal from the sorely underrepresented Oceania (or even South America)

This is probably going to be the weakest of the Scenery Packs for me. Don't get me wrong, I'll like it and I'm glad we're getting it, it's just "not as great" as the others.

Ha, that's accurate lol. To be fair I actually thought the Lechwe was a decent choice as it looked so different from anything else in the game, the scimitar oryx is too close to the Gemsbok, which is also an oryx. Granted, a totally different color and I can't deny that it definitely fits the theme of the pack for sure, just would have been other choices I would rather have seen.

Pros: very happy with the leopard (was a bit worried) and the Przewalski’s horse. Love all the grasses and flowers and the building pieces. The signs are nice too.

Cons: the education stations and flower-shaped light are too cartoony for me and I dislike the statues.

Pros: plants! More plants! Prez* horse, the saimang (and brachiation) - i'm not a big primate person but I know it's been a longed for addition to the game. Curved barriers, short gates, the swimming bug fix, so many things!

Cons: ... not too many, except the wire limbs of the statues. I liked the thought of them being kind of roly-poly statues that sat on the ground. The wire limbs look creepy. Hopefully some modder out there agrees and gives us an option without.

Other, totally unofficial con: waiting on PZ+ mod update. My sandbox zoos are all dependent on the hitbox changes.

I hate to say it, but I'm disappointed.

Yesterday I started a new zoo, and research the new conservation theme and first start building for the Przewalski horse. I'm looking at the pieces, and all I'm thinking is...is that all? The backstage stuff is nice and all, but personally I rarely build a backstage area, and I find very limited use for the props. I don't like the 3D printed walls at all.
Usually when a new pack drops, I feel very inspired (either by the animals or the new building stuff) and have all these great ideas of what I want to make, but yesterday when I was playing it was just like...meh.

It's not all bad though. I really love the pumpkins, and all the new foliage is amazing. Oh and the small habitat gates are cool too. And there's also a new setting "Align to water" when you build, I thought that was neat. I haven't actually played with any of the animals, but I assume they are great as usual.

I will have more time to play with it this weekend, maybe my opinion will change.

Pro: Finally a branchiating animal and finally a gibbon(hoping the mechanic will improve in future tho).
Pro: Generic zoo items and building sets.
Pro: Many new foliage pieces (love the aquilaria trees and all the flowers).
Pro: The animal decals are so great to use on glass. Many zoos have stickers like that (I use them for my entrance now) and these work much better than the SEA or Aquatic versions we had.
Pro: Those lamps! (not the cartoony ones, but the covers)

Con: The amount of items is somewhat limited. Understandable with the high quality, but I'd love to have more things like the insect hotel, such as bird houses etc.
Con: For a conservation-themed pack, there is too much attention for charismatic megafauna (4 mammals), which is actually one of the issues faced by conservationists. But then I wouldn't know how to solve this in the current DLC system.
Con: I let four siamangs die in an empty sandbox while experimenting with the branchiation mechanic and I can never get over this sense of guilt.
Con: They could've exchanged the oryx and axolotl for a Pere David's deer and softshell turtle and call it a ConservAsian pack, which I would've found funny. But I'm probably the only one...
