Consistent Crashes when leaving Settlements/Ports/Ground Installations

Anyone else experiencing really consistent crash to dekstops when they attempt to leave any kind of surface installation? It obviously doesn't happen 100% and it's particularly common if you fly away horizontally as opposed to leaving the planet's surface.

It's not a huge game killer crash since it seems to be easy to avoid (Just don't fly more than 20KM away from a settlement) but the consistency is really weird. Would like to see if anyone can reproduce. Haven't observed this until Patch 5, dismissed the first 3 or 4 as Flukes, but now after a dozen or so.

I just had this problem trying to leave a settlement for a ground mission. I had done a couple of easy ground missions since update 5, like getting documents, etc. Those were fine. This was a mission to restore power and put out fires. It seemed fine coming in, but when I exited this ship I had the bug where you get a black screen and endless footstep sounds. I relogged, and since that causes all of the lockers to be empty, etc. I tried to take off, enter supercruise, and come back in again. I couldn't. The frames tanked to about 5 FPS, the game stuttered horribily, then the game crashed. I sent a bug report in from the crash dialog. I logged in again and tried to take off and enter supercruise. The exact same thing happened again. I tried a third time, and I crawled away from the station at about 50 m/s, slowly gained altitude as it stuttered along, and finally got up to about 9 km where it seemed to smooth out only to crash again. I've never had this issue before. I have an RTX 3090 running at max settings at 4k. Even though there are performance issues, it's usually playable for me. I had to log into Horizons to leave the planet, and then I just decided to abandon that and 3 other ground missions and take a break from Elite for a while... probably a very long time at this point. I think I'm done. I'll probably sell my fleet carrier and see how the game is 6 to 9 months from now. Maybe.

I would call this pretty game breaking - at least what I experienced. The only thing different about this settlement was that there were a huge number of rocks around it, much more than others I've been to. Maybe that had something to do with it. It was Du Manufacturing Enterprise on HIP 16607 1d, at least according to ED Discovery. I'd file a bug report, but at this point, I'm just tired of looking at bug reports, commenting, voting, etc. Maybe I'll do it later, but right now, I'm just really tired. I am going to take an extended break from ED.

Wouldn’t say consistent but two really common sources are system map while selecting things and after a slide show session at a settlement that triggers that behavior when leaving.

Yep, this is exactly it.

Also, is anyone's processors getting really/unusually hot too? My 5900X never ran super cool (Idle 40C, CBR20 All Core 70C CBR20 Single Core 77C), but it's getting really close to 90C in EDO as of patch 5 and typically only AVX workloads will do that.

Since patch 5 I can pretty much guarantee a driver crash if I try to fight scavs from my ship. Also generally worse performance. Bring on patch 6!

It happened to me twice yesterday leaving a crash site on a planet. As soon as I tried to jump into supercruise I crashed to desktop. Did it twice at the same crash site. To get off the planet I logged into EDH.
