With the console announcement, I've had mixed feelings.
I have close to 400 hours into the game, so not as much as other console players. But one of the reasons why I love this game is because I have been working towards my exploration Elite status and it has become a family function for my wife and young daughter to sit and watch me play (my wife is a gamer as well). My 10 year old daughter just loves watching me explore and would get so excited when she wouldn't see a name for first discoveries/first mapped, as she knew my gamertag would show up there once I turned in the exploration data. She's driven the SRV on planets and the smile on her face and the laughs when she launches off of a hill are priceless.
I truly understand the frustration from the player base. So many unanswered questions and it sucks when promises are not fulfilled. I hope that maybe an update from the team will come out explaining further about what is going to happen. Will we still be able to participate in CGs on console? Will it be possible to transfer over to PC with no issues? What are considered "critical updates"? I had thought about buying a gaming PC a while back, but Elite would be the only game I would play on it. I just wouldn't want to buy another copy to just start over. I would have no problem buying another copy if all of my stuff could transfer from my Xbox to PC.
I still love this game. I am currently on a long trip to Colonia, and will continue as I do not like abandoning a mission that I set my mind to.
I also want to thank the PC CMDRs for being so supportive towards the console CMDRs from the comments that I have read in the threads, this is one of the best gaming communities I have been apart of. I don't post much, but I do lurk around. The advice I got from the beginning of my journey in Elite from these forums helped out immensely.
