[Console] PIP Marcos

As title suggests, is this something that could possibly be implemented for us?

Found the joy stick to be somewhat cumbersome and putting them down on the D-PAD of the controller made it somewhat difficult also.

Was thinking 3 preset settings, that could be adjusted by commander

For example

-Aggressive combat 0-2-4
-Incoming damage- 4-2-0
-Escape- 4-2-0

Granted most of these are achieved with a few clicks but it would be a nice little addition to help us out.

Thanks

*Title got mangled. AUTOCORRECT. FUUUUUU

I am playing devil's advocate here, so keep that in mind, I think your idea sounds good.

PIP management is often touted as a key skill in combat, changing it to 3 preset options removes that skill factor. I don't combat so I always have it set to engines and only shields if being fired upon, never anything to weapons so I only need 2 options, 2-4-0, 4-2-0, be nice to have them on two buttons, saves me a click :D

Pip management is very critical to combat and even on PC at the higher end of PvP most people are running macros.

Just would be a small QoL thing. Some guys I play with have worn D-Pads out.

Devils advocate away. Its part of the fun

I think some sort of built-in pip macroing is very much needed.

I have my pip macros set to 4-1-1, 1-4-1, 1-1-4, and 2-2-2 (hat switch on my joystick), and it's invaluable in a fight.

I don't think macroing really removes much of the "skill" element from pip management, it just makes it significantly less cumbersome. The skill comes into play with knowing when to change pips and doing the right changes at the right times. That remains with macroing, and arguably the skill cap is even heightened by making it something that feasible to change up much more frequently and dynamically.

I think pip-macros properly puts the "skill" in knowing what you need and recognizing when you need it, not just in how fast your fingers can move.
