Console players abandoned.

Pretty damn close.

close is not equals.

I can see how it feels that way in the heat of the moment but I disagree. If they didn't care they wouldn't have spent so long making everyone hang on while they tried to make it viable. As it is I think they've come to the conclusion that even if it's possible to make odyssey work it'll take too long and be too damaging to the future of the game overall.

If making odyssey work on old tech is this hard how will they ever get the next dlc working?

Continuing to kick the can down the road does no one any favours.

Was stating what should have happened given hindsight of what has already happened. Trial and error is a constant in the state of life.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Probably why they've decided not to even attempt a next gen console port. Why get themselves into the same situation further down the line..

I'm not sure they were making it viable for console. I'm not sure it'll ever really be viable for PC, either.

All I'm asking for is that Horizons continue to be supported. There hasn't been much of a change as far as I can tell. Just do compatibility patches, but keep it running.

If they do that, I'll be happy (enough). This is my favorite game, and sitting at over 1.5 million gamerscore on Xbox, I think that's saying something. I've easily spent more time on Elite than any of the other 2,339 Xbox games that I've played. If I can continue playing the greatest space sim ever made without the broken FPS element, I'll be happier than a pig in... yep.

I'm taking what (little) they've said at face value and trusting that they were trying. Ultimately they're the only people who will ever know the truth of that.

i5 8600k, 16gb ram, m2 ssd, gtx 1080. Everything runs fine on max settings for me with my old custom graphics file. (although still get some frame drops that cause stutters very ocasionally).

During the last CG I even had 2 clients running on one machine (have 3 screens) so i could run deliveries with 2 commanders at once. The only big frame drops I had was when both ships were docking at alcor at the same time.

I think they do need more optimization for the low end system requirements before rolling the codebase into PC horizons though. Fingers crossed update 11 helps there.

That does seem the current plan for console from what DB said. They do need to clarify some of how that's going to work though. It'd also help if they could say how long as a minimum that basic support will last (doubt that'll happen though!)
and sitting at over 1.5 million gamerscore on Xbox,

Wow, I thought my 100k was pretty good 😮

Hope you get to keep flying for as long as you wish 🤞👍

Which means you dont really need a carrier if you cannot make at least 30 millions credits per week (this amount can usually be made in about 20 minutes in game)
This is the type of thinking that lets FDEV get away with their garbage design mechanics leading to where we are now, if left unchallenged and defended.

This is the type of thinking that seen 10,000 Carriers being purchased when Carriers were launched.
And now, less than 20 months later, we have more than 31,000 carriers in game

I'd say carriers were a big success...

Hobos eat out of trash cans every day, doesn’t make it right or good.

and you’re still here defending, good on you, warrior. To the last man.
