Console to PC Transfer

∠O

So the transfer is upon us and, as some of you know, I have a very particular set of things going on within the universe that make situations like this a nightmare for people like me.

That being the case, I thought to go ahead and document the situation, from start to finish, for anyone that might be, understandably, reticent to go full bore into the console to PC transfer immediately.

So, for the next few days/weeks, I will stop in and provide an accounting of what has occurred with regard to this process so that anyone else looking into this without a complete understanding of the matter might find deeper clarity.

So, first things first:

As of right now:
1. CMDR Half-Lock (formerly CMDR TheyTookMyMilk) on PS4
2. CMDR Half-Lock on PC (formerly PC and MAC)
3. I will not be decommissioning my fleet carrier prior to initiating the console to pc transfer.

4. I will not be erasing the current PC account

5. I will be electing to accept the offer to complete the console to pc transfer with a second pc license, requiring multiple purchased of Odyssey to enter the Odyssey gamespace with both accounts

6. I will be electing to accept the offer to change the CMDR Call-sign designation as part of the console to pc transfer process

7. Right now

I will return to document the process as it occurs, hopefully, beginning tomorrow.

So, I made some last minute preparations for the console to profile transfer.

  • Logged into Console account:
    • transferred credits from Carrier to CMDR wallet
      • 1B:1.7B
  • Read through the final notes again and saw again that the FC and its "Contents" would not be copied over and then I got scared so I decided to transfer some of my ships over to Clark Port
    • got lazy and logged off
    • got scared again and transferred over the following ships: Adder, Imperial Courier, T-9, Imperial Cutter, Anaconda, Asp Explorer, Fer-de-lance, Mamba, DBX, Federal Cutter, Imperial Clipper, Vulture
  • Initiated console to pc transfer
    • Required new account so I created a new Frontier account using my streaming/inara address
    • Required new CMDR name so I selected Half-L0ck
  • Confirmed transfer
    • transfer entered queueu

Ok so that's not your Fleet Carrier???
I remember them saying if you want your fleet carrier on the transfer, you must decommission it first (so the CMDR has all the money) then when the transfer is done, you buy back your Fleet carrier on both accounts... so you'll have 2 fleet carriers, one on console and one on PC (well... I think you'd have 2 carriers???). Just checking in case that is your carrier.

Well... way to make it even more confusing.

Whoa, you decommissioned your carrier 'after' the transfer?? No... that was supposed to be the first step before transfer... You should contact them right away if your goal was to get your 'new' carrier on the transferred account. Unless I'm totally misunderstanding your situation... sorry if I am. But I'm guessing anyone who worked hard for their carrier would want to also be able to get it on the new account. I don't know if they will do anything right now while they are probably loaded down with transfers, but I would definitely let them know right away.

Just in case anyone else sees this, I believe the process is...

1-move your ships to a nearby station
2-Decommission your carrier
3-File for transfer... and when transfer is complete...
4-Purchase a fleet carrier on either or both accounts.

Again, like I said, if I misunderstood your original goal I apologize. But it sounded like you were losing the ability to have your FC on the new account moving forward.

If you decommission your Fleet Carrier and get the money and it is gone from that account, but the money isn't, so yes he can still purchase a new carrier on the xbox account with the money he got from decommissioning the carrier on xbox, he will have that money on both accounts, so it's a way of making a bit of money I suppose.

Sounds like he/she did the fleet carrier decommission 'after' the transfer, so that decommission money would not transfer over because the transfer is already done...
Whatever pocket money a cmdr has 'at the time of transfer' is the amount they will have starting the new account, that's why you have to get that carrier money in your pocket first. Unless they changed the process, every time I read or saw fdev mention the transfer, they kept saying if you want a carrier on the new account you 'must' decommission it on the console account first 'before' transfer request... they kept repeating that every time.

Did they introduce a new transfer process that allows money to be transferred after the official transfer??

Yeah, it was a conscious decision to do so for the thing that I’ve been doing with The Nain Logs.

I'm guessing anyone who worked hard for their carrier would want to also be able to get it on the new account
A thing that I’m doing for The Nain Logs
like I said, if I misunderstood your original goal I apologize

Yeah, there seems to be this strange confusion about what I’m doing originating from the Twitch streaming community, but no need to apologize. It’s slowly working itself out.

Sounds like he/she did the fleet carrier decommission 'after' the transfer, so that decommission money would not transfer over because the transfer is already done...
I’m a He, and yeah, The Nain Logs thing is a thing.

I’m sitting on three CMDRs now and I’m managing and writing the three narratives of Cadence, Coral, and Callie, all of which I have to continue to play.

Did they introduce a new transfer process that allows money to be transferred after the official transfer??
Not that I’m aware of. The current situation is as described.

While we’re on the topic, with the year coming to a close, I’ve got to start planning for another year-end compilation The Nain Logs.

The original year is still available at the old NainInc google-share on which I’d made it available (before I scrapped it because of that Japanese company and that Japanese UC Berkley graduate, both of whom are different people with the same name, by the way- and major spiderman finger-points for this cluster rhymes with mugger) and on the current cmdrhalflock googleshare.

Being what it is, does anybody have a suggestion for how (services, google-groks) I might set it up for download in a way that would provide me with a download count?

Perhaps we'll see you in a bar again sometime.🙂

Haven’t done anything beyond attempting to download the Frontier Launcher for the PC version of horizons provided with the console to PC transfer and now the Steam version download of Horizons.

Will update as I go along but, while we’re on the topic, does anyone know how I’d go about upgrading the second PC version (obtained from the console to PC transfer) to Odyssey?

As it seems that your new account is a FDev account you'll probably be happy to hear that EDO is -45% right now at the FDev store! Just add the DLC to your new FDev account and it will appear in the launcher for download.

Continuation of the follow up:

Submitted a support ticket in order to request FDEV look into the matter of upgrading the C2PC account to Odyssey
If you have a new Frontier account for the transferred Console commander I think you should buy Odyssey from the Frontier store, it's even on discount right now.
