Constant network and server issues with PC2 workshop and franchise mode on PC.

I got the game last week, and since purchase have only been able to reliably access the workshop maybe 3 times. 90% of the time when I try to go to the workshop it just times out or pops up asking me to check my network connection. I am on PC, my computer is hardwired to my router, and I have gigabit internet that is working fine for everything else. I have restarted, tried using the browser based workshop, tried logging out and back in, everything I can think of. This game feels nearly unplayable without this feature working. Does anyone have any suggestions I can try? I know that many are having issues with workshop features, but I can't even get into it most of the time much less complain about the way it works.
