With so many players including myself unable to connect to any version of Elite I thought I would list the various fixes that have worked for either myself or others.
I would ask we try and keep this thread on topic, I know that nearly all of us are super frustrated tight now and it's all to easy to end up venting but the threads end up full of us all (myself included) ranting and the good info goes by the wayside

For all those who have an Orange Sidewinder problem.
I've had this problem several times in a row. Here's the solution that works for me (works for the Steam version):
1. Go to the profile https://www.frontierstore.net/frontier_partnerkeys/thirdparty/ and disable the Link Of Steam account.
2. Launch Horizons from Steam.
3. Horizons will tell you that you are in an incompatible location and need to move - agree to move. You're in the ship.
4. Then we leave the game. Get out of Steam. You need to link the Steam account back to the link https://www.frontierstore.net/frontier_partnerkeys/
5. Launch Odyssey from Steam - enjoy.
P.S. Possible appearance of the error Taupe Cobra - do not pay attention and run again. Enjoy.
I myself did this:
I had this issue since hotfix 2, the only solution until they patch the issue is to reach out to frontier support https://twitter.com/Frontier_Help , they manually moved my cmdr and although i had to log into horizons first i was then able to log back into edo.
To be clear, this will only help cmdrs that cannot login at all, the random ctd's and disonnects for those that can login are frustrating but i doubt customer support will be able to help as that is an issue affecting all players right now.
Shout out to PixelBandits for this:
The Orange Sidewinder error in Elite Dangerous is what Frontier refer to as a “generic error” with your connection to the Elite server. This message typically refers to errors when your CMDR cannot be loaded.
In order to fix this, Frontier recommend restarting your router as well as your machine (PC / Xbox / PS4) in order to fully refresh the connection. Wait at least five minutes and then try and log in once more. If this doesn’t fix things, Frontier will usually move your CMDR into another system to get you back into the game, and you should log a support ticket.
There are more that i have come across but i have a heavy schedule today, hopefully later i will get chance to post more up. Even once you get back in its colurful snake errors all the way but its better than being completely locked out and unable to play until it is patched.
Feel free to add any other methods that have worked, o7 Cmdrs
