Constructive Feedback after 180 hours of playing

So here it is, part 2 of my feedback post. Here we go!

UI, building and creativity:

  • Thing still forget their color. For example when Duplicating something and Undoing it, the part forgets the color. Object sets also forget their color or don't share it. If selecting one plaster piece and setting the colors, selecting other plaster pieces still need to be set completely again. Please make things remember set colors and transition these colors to other fitting parts.
  • Kerbs still limit creative freedom. Please make the kerbs removeable.
  • Recoloring Flume platform railings still doesn't work and the railings cannot be turned off which kills creativity with them. Please make flume platforms recolorable and possible to be turned off.
  • Duplicating some pieces (especially multiple pieces at once) and setting their height with the shift key and leeting go of the shift key makes them go somewhere completely different. You let go of the shift key to place the item and it's somwhere underground or somewhere weird. Please make setting height when duplicating functional.
  • Advanced copy/move pieces "forgets" the settings after a few copies like the distance grid. Please make advanced copy/move terain it's settings until they are changed.
  • Some position snaps are wonky. For example when putting gutter pieces together they somehow just turn 45 degrees. Please check the position snaps for functionality.
  • Selecting stuff still is a hassle. Many hitboxes are larger than their visible object. Please make the hitboxes fitting to the actual objects.
  • The advanced move gadget is wonky. Sometimes you hover over it and see the axis lit up that you wanted but when clicking other axis are selected. Sometimes you even select the right axis but magically it moves along other axis. Please check functionality and hitboxes of the advanced move gadget.
  • There is still the senseless multiselect key and the confirm selection key. Even with hotkeys these things are useless hassle. Please make us be able multiselect things with shift.
  • Coaster Cars are too themed. The Vekoma race car and the dragon coaster are examples. And you can't change them. Please give us more unthemed or changeable coaster cards (already in roadmap).
  • Undo stops working randomly. Please check for bugs concerning the undo-button.
  • My park never keeps my custom colors between sessions so I need to keep a seperate color dopcument and copy and pase them in. Please make it so that the custom colors you used are saved with the park file.
  • Creating queurs is still a hassle. Please give us the same controls for ques that we have for paths and let us remove the kerbs.
Gameplay features:
  • The research progression still doesn't make any sense. Why can I build a giant B&M coaster before being able to build a Zierer Tivoli like coaster. Please introduce more logic to the research tree and sort it by time or size or technical complexity.
  • There are many complex and cool flat rides but many standards are missing. Please include more common flat rides before adding more exotic ones. If you want information about more common flatrides you can for example view them on the videos by "Coaster college" and they are called "Flatride of the week" or "Flatride Friday".
  • Activites for children and more children's flat rides would be great.
  • The staff management is absolutely the worst of any Planet Gameand doesn't make any sense. For example:
    • 1 mechanic can service one ride an hour
    • To ensure all the rides being serviced every hour, you need one mechanic for each of them and each your power facilities and water facilities (which is costly and totally overstaffed imho).
    • The rest of the time the mechanics walk around and twiddle their thumbs.
    • You get annoyed by messages that your staff has trouble finding something to do.
    • Please rethink this. This is really poor and unfunctional design.
  • Flumes can end on land but the guests will bounce comically around and be shot out like a bullet outside the path and be lost. Maybe you could integrate a dry slide feature where you switch off the water, up the friction and include an animation for the guests to actually leave the dry slide normally.
  • I wanted to build a two story restaurant. But with the restaurant system still missing, it was a hassle to have the second story mage to be accessible by guests. Please reintroduce the Restaurants.
  • Please give us back vista points to regulate guest flow.
Bugs/Gameplay Problems:
  • The guest flow is still very wonky, pathfinding doesn't work very well and the guests get stuck even on giant plazas. Please make guest pathfinding better.
  • Vending machines are a problem. After having the park open for a wahile you get groups of guests in front of them, walking up to them and then walking back to qeue up for them again. They do this in an endless loop. They never get anything, they never go home, the just go more desperate and desperate and do this forever. Please fix guest interaction with vending machines.
  • "Bugged guests" roam the park, do nothing but walk around, grow desperate and won't leave the park either. It may have something to do with them being stuck in waiting for someone of their group but never finding them again. Please rework the guest behaviour that makes them do that.
  • Pathfinding through pools doesn't seem to work well. People get stuck on the side of a pool if the part isn't connected to the other paths of the park. Please enable pathfinding through pools.
  • Spinning Coaster spin way too fast sometimes and very unnaturally. Please overhaul the spinning coaster physics.
  • When creating a custom scenery brush, there was a "ghost brush" with no name and no functionality. I couldn't delete it though cause even when selected, it just deletes the next one instead (lost a very detailes scenery brush that way as it couldn't be undone!). The next session, all my scenery brushes were deleted. Please check this feature (scenery brushes) for bugs.
Missing features:
  • Restaurants
  • Hotels
  • Gift Shops
  • Basic and standard flatrides
  • Children's rides
  • Activities besides rides (Arcade games, Play structures, Splash Pads etc.)
  • Custom Billboard/Speakers (already in roadmap)
  • A few coasters (for example, RMC Raptor (you only have the T-Rex which has never been built)
  • Being able to customize height on tower rides.
I will add issues and feedback I have here.

To be clear, I love this game but these issues should be worked on and I want to help in making it better.

Agreed with many of these. Especially the quality of life stuff. I honestly think the quality of life improvements should be priority #1.

From your list the things that bother me most are:

  • Forgetting the color
  • Forgetting the snap distance/positions
  • Things moving when you don't want them to
  • Path Kerbs (seriously!!!!)
  • Queues and paths (indeed please give us the same options and also the path width 4m for queues and 2m for regular paths like ride exits)

I would very much just like the same Planet Coaster 1 PC controls to be in Planet Coaster 2. Maybe there should be an easy setting for this in the menu. Instead of trying to re-invent the wheel and give us a badly ported console game.

I agree with most items, one of them I want to respond to especially and those are the customizing height option on tower rides.

This has been a request from day 1, even the newer tower rides in Planet Coaster 1 have this option so it would seem logic that in Planet Coaster 2 the existing rides without the option would be upgraded. Unfortunatly they didn't and they even took out the few tower rides that HAD the option. Very weird??

I hope they will re-work the tower rides and make them flexi-height.

I really don't see what you're talking about.
Which was the few tower rides that had the option to customize the height??

Omg, I feel that I miss so much...It was right in front of me the all time, and I missed it.....I fell like I have to replay PC1 now.
 
I just hope frontier keeps their eyes open for the feedback of the community. They seem to do that but I we will see in february when the next update comes out.

We will see what we will see in 2 weeks. I am not holding my breath but I also haven't completely abandoned all hope (obviously as I am still here).

Actually im very optimistic! They bring back some amazing features from Planco 1 + updates on slides and bugfixes.

Also the notion they are looking into possibilities regarding the classic themes sound promising!!

I doubt we will get spooky but hopefully it's one of the ones I used a lot. I mean it WOULD be perfect since Valentines is actually 2nd Halloween.

Spooky is very popular. I doubt they will add it now but I cant imagine they wont add a spooky or halloween them eventually.
 
Do you think that with the next update there might already be a "new" old theme? I hope so much. I don't know what I should build anymore. I'm just repeating myself...😄

Im curious to find out :D they didnt confirm anything but they mentioned they were looking into bringing them back as part of the free updates.

Good review thank you and I agree with all the issues you are mentioning. I'm also enjoying the game and those new cool features like the cool one witch allow the possibility to attach environnements to ride and coasters. However I also would like to add the other points that bother me much while playing :

  • Missing the scenario mode ( an option for PC user at least if not possible for consoles ?) that was cool to really set more precisely everything about the park including extended it's dimensions
  • Missing the time machine that allowed in PC1 to switch from daylight to night or inverse while riding a coaster or any attraction with the triggering.
  • Missing the possibility to ajust the maximum of people in the park after started to create the park ( it was possible in PC1 like reduce the number if you feel your GPU can't manage too much people and rides that slowing down the frame rate )
  • Missing the possibility to completely switch off all the notifications as it was possible in PC1 ( too much of them are not relevant mainly the one witch say to often that people are lost in the park without any good reason or saying the staff are worked more than 4 hours without making any pause even when you switched the pause option off in sandbox mode )
  • Working seriously on the staff management by the UI as the staff are effectively more losing their time walking on the park on long distances doing nothing special than looking for jobs ( or janitors passing by full bins without empty it or not cleaning toilet or changing room as they should) . The worse is the missing shift management mainly that now staff that manage coasters and flat rides can make pauses, because they leave their job too often and leaving the ride or coaster without any management for too long ( and for unknown reason the replacement staff is always at the opposite side of the park even when placing a rest room near the ride ). Result people are all leaving the queue.The staff who manage coasters and flat rides or any attraction or even shops in fact should not leave their job before somebody arrive to replace them ( could be done in the planning allowing better shift management) . ( I guess it was certainly been mentioned already but that's really a key point to enjoy the game really better).
  • The tolerance for coaster is far too low and people don't want to ride my home made coasters anymore in PC2 despite every stats are all on green ( enthusiasm, fear and nausea) when same coasters I made in PC1 was totally enjoyed by the people and queues always crowded).
  • Since December update that added the possibility to have more people riding slide and flumes simultaneously the different views (including orbital ) don't allow to see the people buoy or flat mat diving in the pool anymore as just before diving it switch on the start of the ride again ( or people followed the one you selected on the ride). The only way to go all thru the slide or flume until diving in the pool is now to select a people itself who ride it but it's not the same that enjoying it in orbital view.

That was the main things I wished to mention and of course I also miss all the nice animatronics that I collected with all the DLC I bought for PC1 and nice buildings ( not only facades) including very high buildings.
Again don't make me wrong as I really enjoy the game PC2 but for sure I would enjoy far much with all that points corrected ( mainly the staff management and coaster tolerances)
