Hi all.

Let's say in some distant future, where we can travel between stars. How do you think the first contact would realistically unfold with an alien species?

However, in this scenario, the contact is between two spaceships out in the void. Perhaps both are investigating an anomaly and said anomaly turns out to be the other's vessel.

99% of them are crap though. They're generally the opinions of physicists or science popularizers like Sagan or Hawking. To get the answer you need to talk to a historian and see what patterns of behavior humanity exhibits when this has happened before.
