Making contact with other players is sometimes hard, it's is especially so if someone is looking for another commander.

Maybe I'd passed by that pilot you are looking for, perhaps my sensors noted them while I was landing earlier?

I'd like to be able to check the list of contacts I've seen in the last hour.

That would be a very nice tie in for missions. Eg,

"We are looking for information on xxxx"

"We want you to encourage xxx to take early retirement"

Maybe you saw them when jumping in?

This would be a fantastic class 1 type of scanner module thing. Instead of a discovery scanner, take a contact scanner. When you honk, instead of getting planet data, you scoop a bunch of CMDR data. Everyone in your instance within X range.

They could also tie it in when scanning the NAV beacon and when scanning the Compromised beacon's, get more data about the ships in the system if people want to pirate.
