When you scan a ship, its identity in the contact panel is replaced by the NPC commander name.
This is useless information. It's irritating to scan all your potential targets and then be unable to distinguish between the different ships without scrolling through the list.
At the most, just hyphenate the name to the ship type - don't replace it. I want to be able to see what types of ships are around me, which I can do, but only until I scan them.
This suggestion seems like a pretty objective necessity.
