Contacts to Sensor ship id ??

Hi,
Something i find needlessly frustrating, and indeed rather odd given the supposed technology involved, is the fact we have no idea who each contact on the senor is versus the list of contacts on the left hand panel without targeting each one on the contact screen and then referring back to the sensor to find its location.

The time required for this to happen,means if you are trying to identify who is closest and perhaps 'interested' in yourself ,(because the list of contacts are not even listed in any order of distance) , the info is obsolete before you have even worked out who is who.

Could we not have the sensor contacts listed with a number on them that correlates with that of the contact page so we can actually identify who the human players are v NPC's without having to target everyone of them and look to see if they are indeed the ship you are looking for.
 
You can bind controls to target 'next' / 'prev' contact and cycle through to look at specific ships, then look in Contacts if you need to. Not sure what you're asking - Contacts ordered by 'interest'? 🤔
 
Use the Comms panel to determine what ship a player is flying.

In the Comms panel, all local players are displayed- once you know the ship type, it's often much quicker to find them on the left panel

Incidentally, can you 'store' a message in the comms to play to other players so you dont need to type out for instance,"give us your wares or ill open fire" or something, while their blowing you away....not having a voice com means if i choose to Pirate, i will have to type any message i use, which is a bit of an issue when someone is trying to run!

Best you can do is use macros if you play on PC.
