Containment Missile

The devs stated on one of the pre 2.2 streams that you'll be able to unlock the containment missile effect on normal missiles with normal mods but the effect will be weaker than Yuris missiles, I'm at Liz Ryder now and she doesn't give me that option.

is that not the powerplay reward?
 
It's torpedoes, not missiles - and an experimental effect, not a normal mod:

Mass Lock Munition
Experimental warheads incorporating frame shift technology. Successful detonation significantly inhibits charging for Supercruise
 
No guys, the OP is right, this is supposed to be a new special for dumbfires similar to but not quite as good as the Grom missile.

It was discussed in detail in Beta 2.2 and the Live 2.2 patch notes even include separate stats for the Powerplay and Engineering versions respectively.

I don't know what you people are on about, but "Containment Missles" are PP reward from Youri Grom.

torpedoes dont stop FSD, torpedos do mass lock 10... USELESS....

But Mines do have FSD reboot...

I've seen NPCs using them as my Anaconda got wrecked with them by an NPC Elite Anaconda leaving the Guardian ruins awhile back. Totally shut my FSD down mid charge.

Im waiting for the 24th to hit (when folks get the Yuri weapon) and then watch the forum melt with folks saying how overpowered it is.

Was anyone able to actually test it in Beta? I could not find it, but admit i did not spend much time on it.

As NPC's are not supposed to have access to any engineer specials, this is a very interesting report. Were your shields still up?

And does anyone know whether NPC's have access to Powerplay weapons (in case could have been Yuri Grom 'early adopter'?)

In late beta I posted several times that this hadn't come, after a couple of replies from FD saying it was in ( they were mistaken) I stopped wasting my breath. :mad:

A player duo with this and SCB railgun will have a hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh chance of killing me.

NPCs with this will be really annoying, not only can they jump out while be masslocked, drop in wherever they want. They will be able to stop me from leaving.

Maybe I need to sell all my ships and just use ONE engineered Clipper from now on ...

Is this class 1 or 2 weapon?

Nobody knows. I would imagine class 2 but we already have a class 2 missile launcher that said that one is lock on, this one isn't.

It'll do plenty of good for me as a pirate.. who am I kidding, until the containment missiles contain combat logs it probably won't.
 
QA have now acknowledged and reproduced in the bug thread, work appears to be under way.

Having to juggle feedback cascade rail and fsd interrupt / containment almost makes me wish I was flying a ship with four hardpoints rather than mah Courier.
