It still is a huge problem for me. If anything it seems worse.
Try finding super rare technetium with a scanner signal that tends to break up and then disappear completely.
Again and again I end up driving in circles and finding nothing.
I used to love the SRV scanner, even proposed a same type of scanner for ships, but the way it currently performs turns finding stuff into a pure hell of frustration.
