I own a Spacenavigator from 3dconnexion that i have used in many other sims with great success using their 3dxware driver that has a joystick emulator for its axis, works really great.

However i have now tested the device in Elite and it seems that Elite is bypassing the 3dconnexions driver and reading the axis in some other ways.
This ofcourse causes issues where i am unable to configure the sensitivty on the axis and the ships just spin out of control.

Ok, i have tweaked and solved this issue by doing the following:
In Devicemanager you have:
Human Interface Devices

and inside there you will have:
3Dconnexion KMJ Emulator
3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator

To make the actual driver and its settings work you will need to disable the 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator driver and restart the computer.
Then start the game, open the 3dxware menu and then enable this driver again.

Now the sensitivtysetting and everything works.
So it is possible to actually use the device in Elite, you just have to do these steps to make it work.

Anyone who knows a simpler solution please reply.

I've changed mine over to press and hold keystokes via the .xml file using the 10.0.16 release. It works fine with thrusters for me. If anyone wants information on this I can post what I know.

The 3dconnexion software is the worst 'driver package' I've ever seen. Not to mention the completely schizophrenic updates. 10.0.16 you can create profiles (but it crashes).. 10.0.22 gives you the control panel but takes away any ability to make a profile.. and then the latest 3.18.0 is just some 'app sensing', we think you might like scroll webpages and that's it! No profiles, no templates, nothing. :S

Try to dig up anything on the 3Dconnexion site and either the links are dead or you see posts from 2008. And the forums are basically a moderator and developer too busy patting themselves on the back to be useful.

Can you post a video about using 3d mice in Elite Dangerous. I lie the sound of them but have never used one.
