Newcomer / Intro Control Questions (Mouse and Keyboard)

Hello,

I just downloaded ED (AHHHH SO EXCITED) and I am in the process of setting up the controls to my liking. With that said, this is my first space sim (and really any form of flight sim), and I need some clarification on understanding certain variables.

  1. Mouse Sensitivity vs. Dead Zone vs. Power Curve. I get the difference between sensitivity and dead zone, but I am having a hard time understanding the relationship between three variables.
  2. What is continuous throttle increment? I know it says that it emulates analogue scale, but I don't know what that means
  3. What is "Flight Landing Overrides?"
  4. Finally, not necessarily related to controls, but when should I enable flight assist and when should I disable it? the description given in-game kind of confuses me
Thanks!

1. sensitivity basically means how far the cursor will move, if your mouse travel the same distance on the table. Dead zone means that it will ignore small movements.
2. Continuous means that you hold the key and increase the throttle continuously. The other option is to set it to "jumps" (like 0%-25%-50%-75%-100%)
3. Flight landing overrides take effect while your landing gear is down. Basically you can setup the controls separately for landing and for normal flight. Like, maybe you want to switch "forth-back" and "up-down" thrusters, for more precise landing. But I'd recommend to start experimenting with this once you have basics firmly in your blood. :)
4. With FAoff your ship has better control responses, but doesn't counter your inputs and doesn't stabilize itself. So you can use it for tighter turns and stuff. Later on, you can learn to do more things with it, but you have to get there yourself. It can be more disorienting than helpful at first.
