Control reversal when landing gear down

I haven't played in quite a while until yesterday, and I was shocked to find my controls were reversed in the station, when I enagaged my gear. Fiddled around with my control settings so much I almost got taken out by station security for taking too much time to leave the station!

Has there been a change to the controls, and if so can it be removed? I used to love docking, but now it's a pain in the butt. Even my vertical thrusters don't work as they used to. I can hang off dropping my landing gear until just over the landing pad, but I used to love the whole process of >through slot>drop gear>rotate>vertical thrust>docking complete.

Check the control settings in the "landing mode" section. If you set these correctly(e.g. just like your normal flight controls) there shouldn't be an issue. At least my settings got never changed by updates etc.

I have those "Landing overrides" entirely untouched/unassigned. Always worked for me and I've never felt the need to touch them.

(that's just to clarify that no entries there are needed if you intend to maintain the exact same Controls under all conditions)
