Controlers

I've got an X52, a fancy Dan keyboard and mouse and somewhere I've got some original xbox controllers - would one of those work (rather than a later/current model)?

joystick probably, i think it's still much better than a pad, even if there're only 2 buttons + throttle on it. you still have the keyboard for everything else. no xbox controller for me, i'll try my joypad because i have one but i'm pretty sure it wont be good enough. if i dont have a jstick, then keyb+mouse probably.

The advantage with the gamepad is you have two analogue sticks, rather than one. Depending on the final configuration of the flight system, that might give a decent advantage to using a gamepad.

Thanks for the response.

I think I will have to experiment with various options, having never configured a joystick in game it could be interesting.

If xbox 360 controllers are good enough for FD employees, I suspect they will be good enough for me :p

Depends on what plug they have on them. If you can get an adapter then I expect they will work.

I know that XBox360 controllers are USB, so plug and play on any PC.

I don't think we will be able to get the xbox one controller for Alpha Beta as drivers etc not released till later. Hence I'm waiting for a cheap 360 controller when the one releases, then its more cost if the new model is much better.

Thanks, they don't.

I found something about chopping up leads and soldering irons in the meantime - think I'll just buy a new one...

I wouldn't get a 360 controller 2nd hand if they're 20 quid new, some (like mine) are a bit worn with big dead zones required to stop drift.
