controller options, after playing Star Wars:Squadrons

When Luke did his trench run, to launch the torpedo, he may have held a trigger, but he also had to move his stick quickly to the left twice, for it to launch...

In Squadrons, they have a few ways to deal with many inputs. One, that Elite uses well is combinations. But they use combinations with button+(stick action). For example, holding your X button while moving your left thumbstick up or down to balance shields. Elite has it so you can use one button and combine it with another button, but it'd be good adding those stick motions too. Also, they make use of double-press and long-press for doing things. I didnt think this was a big thing, but it's done well and it comes in handy. To select a target, click A once...to select who just shot at you, click A quickly twice. Wow does that come in handy! Now multiply that by all of your bindings, you have 1000's of options. This really helps for bindings on gamepads, but it could be used on HOTAS's as well.

For targeting, which I find a bit janky in Elite, Squadrons has a selection wheel that comes up to select type of target. button + thumbstick(to the bottom-right) sets it to enemies, etc. It'd be great being able to set up your own selection wheels. Binding extreme.

Do we need so many options? Yes, and probably more when they have Odyssey out. As far as I've seen, FDev doesnt change bindings so you need less of them, they just add new bindings as they add things to the game. That's ok with me, but how to map it all is the thing. Maybe start making computers with 2 keyboards?
