Controller setup link

Just bought Elite yesterday and am having some hiccups as far as using my xbox1 controller. Is their a link somewhere thats better than the drop down menu choice under the controller options on the Elite menu? I know that steam says" partial control" as far as the controller. Would like to see a diagram of all the buttons. Thanx in advance.

This might help: https://edrefcard.info/binds/jtzzbj

Otherwise, there's the (outdated) game manual in the launcher (which won't have the on-foot bindings), or (if you wanrt to see other bindings), scroll down on the edrefcard page for some instructions (or just go to the main page at edrefcard.info).

One additional hint: XBox controllers through wireless connection will, at best, only work haphazardly with arbitrary PC Bluetooth hardware/drivers. In most other games, you won't notice this as they will automagically reconnect - and since you usually can't reassign the bindings manually, will also continue to work. In ED, if you lose one device from the list of devices assigned to a specific binding, ED will revert to the default kb+m scheme, which can seriously mess up your game if it happens while you're manually docking a Cutter (or fighting a couple of FdLs). There are two solutions to that: either don't use wireless controllers (of any kind) or, for the XBox controllers, get the MS XBox controller wireless USB stick.

Im using a MS xbox wireless bluetooth controller. Whats the advantage of using a MS wireless usb dongle or stick that basically lets you use up to 8 controllers? I could see if you were talking hardwired maybe.

The dongle (plus its driver) works much more reliable than going via the inbuilt (or 3rd party) BT adapter and its driver. Usually not an issue with most games, but can be a problem in ED.

I also have a C port on the controller, and PC would this be equivalent to the adapter or maybe better? Thanx much so far.

I have to use a Microsoft XBox Wireless Adapter dongle to get Elite to see my X-Box wireless controller. Don't ask me why, the controller is recognised properly and works fine with everything else but Elite doesn't recognise it otherwise. ¯\(ツ)

Use "Default Context" if you want a quick setup that matches the button layout for Xbox (& Playstation?). It does a pretty good job of givin you a reasonable button layout. You can then modify it & save it as a custom bind.
