Controllers don't work with Odyssey?

So on initial launch my normal ps4 controller setup that always works with elite no longer works for the expansion. I can't tweak settings or get any functionality. Has anyone else experienced their controllers not working? So far this expansion is a huge disappointment.

Interacting with the NPCs, selecting "concourse" for the elevator, and some other stuff are unusable with the XBox controller. You can't actually leave the hangar using only your controller. You need to switch to a mouse.
