Controls all messed up

As above...

Haven't played for a couple of months and when i loaded up today all my control bindings were screwed. This have happened before too. Why does this happen?

Thanks for that. I have the same HOTAS plugged in but I have added some other controllers, would doing that cause this?

Yes, this would definitely cause it IF the new controller is the default. Just make sure your original HOTAS is the default controller and it should be back to normal.

Possibly, but I doubt it. You could try removing the new controllers, but it's more likely to be because an update has happened in the meantime.
You might have to set up your binds again.

Yes there was an update to ED I had to install. Seems very sloppy to me that this can happen in 2020 to a game that has complex control bindings. TBH I don't think I can be bothered to redo everything again. Probably time to free up some hard drive space.

Thanks for your help.

Believe it or not, this is probably not Frontiers fault this time. I bet it has to do with the priority of your controllers or something else you or Microsoft did.
Don't get me wrong. I'm definately NOT a white knight for Frontier, but I do like being sure before I blame them.

I'd be surprised of your bindings are not still there in a different bindings file, so give it another try.

I pretty certain that your settings are still there in a different binding, so give it another try.

Thanks, I'll have a look at the controller priorities.

One thing I've done that won't necessarily help you now, but will help you in the future since you mentioned it's happened before: I have a folder I call "Elite Dangerous Stuff", and in it I copied over my keybindings after I got them set up the way I liked em. If you end up having to fix up your keybinds again, I'd go find those files and copy em somewhere safe so that you can just put em back if things go to crap again.

This activity should be available from the options menu or even just a background function where it keeps the previous 3 versions backed up in a separate directory.

What's strange is that the UI Up,down, left, right were mapped to a FOV hat on the flight stick but now they are listed as button 13,14,15,16.

All I've down is added a set of sim racing pedals. This shouldn't happen in 2020 and users should have to do manual backups.
