I loaded up the game today for the first time in a couple of weeks, installing the most recent update, only to find the game behaving differently from before.
Now, I use a very specific controls setup that I've built over the years of playing, I doubt many people have quite what I do. My HOTAS only has so many buttons so I've made use of the combined-keys binding option for a lot of ship functions, however the behavior of how this is handled seems to have changed and no searches online shows me anything related to my problem.
Ok, so the ship 'Boost' function is bound to the 'B' button on my HOTAS, the 'Target Next Hostile' and 'Target Previous Hostile' are bound to 'B + Hat Right' and 'B + Hat Left' respectively. I've used this set up for years now without issue. Today I find every time I'm trying to switch targets, the ship is boosting, it feels like it's activating both the 'Cycle Hostile' and 'Boost' functions at the same time rather than only 'Boosting' if I don't press a direction.
Also, 'UI Focus' is bound to 'Y', to focus on the 4 panels the binds are 'Y + Hat Direction', like the above, this has always worked fine, no issues, I hold 'Y' and press a direction to focus on a panel, then press 'Y' again to centre the view back. Now if I try to focus on a panel, the camera instantly flicks back to centred as soon as I release the 'Y' button, it only stays focused on a panel if I hold the 'Y' button until the camera has finished moving to the panel. I've tried setting the 'UI Focus Mode' to 'Direction' but that has never worked, and still doesn't, which is why I bound the controls this way.
As these particular functions are vital to piloting my ship, and are what I'm used to, this recent change has made the game unplayable as these things are behaving differently to before, it feels like Frontier changed the code for the buttons to activate their function when the button is pressed down rather than released and I cannot see any way to fix it without having to completely learn a new set of key binds!
Has anyone else experienced anything evcen remotely like this?
