Controls wiped from last night to this evening?

I went about setting all my controls to my HOTAS and Xbox controller with the new patch, as I forgot to backup. Got it all nice and dandy with the new added key bindings and played quite a bit last two nights.

Then booted up the game this morning and my controls were all gone in "custom". Everything in Custom was set to default.

There hasn't been an update so I'm not sure if this is some kind of bug, and if so has anyone else been affected by this?

I don't know if this works but I remember someone saying if you right-click the binds file in windows you can select properties and then in the Previous Versions tab you might find such a thing.

Do not ever trust ED to keep your controls saved, that would be too generous towards your time for FD to tolerate.

Back up your bindings file everytime you make a change.

I had it happen with my X52 and Cobra M5. I have the settings backed up but they won't work again for some reason. ALT F4.

Remember not to keep copies in the same directory - it seems to stop assignment changes being saved.

That is a feature of the professional and higher versions of windows, they keep hidden copies of changed files.

If you rename your bindings (also a different name inside the file), you should be able to select it again even if the custom profile was reset for some reason. But I can't remember having a problem with my bindings. I think the game doesn't like often disconnected devices.
