I've been waiting for the powerplay update for a quite a while. As an avid RPG connoisseur I can honestly say that I finally have a reason d'etre in the world of ED. However, I cannot bring myself to support for any of the current powers.. or at least not as far as what I'm aware of their merits and face value go...
Therefore I'd like to ask you, good people of ED forums, to show me what I've been neglecting to notice about the powers that I'd potentially back. Whoever persuades me to join their side will get a powerful and skilled (not to mention humble) ally in the quest of showing the galaxy the only true way to prosperity!
In any case, here are 4 powers that I'd potentially back. Any comment that'd sway my opinion is welcome:
-Felicia Winters - I like what she stands for. Cracking down on corporate oligarchy and improving social situation is definitely something I could get behind. However, fighting against 2/3rds of the Congress, then fighting against those who actually control that congress and finally against the populous whose consciousness I'd rank somewhere between "Idiocracy" and "Brave New World".. She may be on top at the moment, but the cards are heavily stacked against her and her vision.
-Arissa Lavigny-Duval - Out of all 4 Empire factions, she comes on top as far as preserving the honor and dignity of the Empire go. That being said, best of four bad options ain't much to go for. Unfortunately, pushing for status quo when there's something rotten in the state of Denmark makes me doubt she would be a capable Empress. In fact, even tho I'd never personally back them, I'd consider both Tores and Parteus as better candidates for leadership simply because they realize a change is necessary for Empire to survive, let alone prosper.
-Edmund Mahon - If Alliance wants to become anything like its RL counterpart of the Unaligned Movement during the Cold War they need to kick it up several gears.. Smallest, most disjointed, without any vision they need a capable, charismatic and determined leader who would show the members they need to pull together and show the other two entities that they are not to be taken lightly. Unfortunately this bloke has none of the necessary qualities, and while diplomatic and economical expansion is nice, consolidation is at least as, if not more important.
-Aisling Duval - A mouthpiece for God knows who (I'm pretty sure I don't wanna know, my bet is on some Federal scumbag), spouting populist nonsense and using her looks and pipe dreams to attract the most gullible and uninformed. Unfortunately, I fear this gal will get the most support from the Commanders, mostly because RP-ers, min-maxers and those who actually pay attention to what's going on are all in vast minority compared to your average easily-dazzled Joe (what irony it'd be if she was really sponsored by Federation). Last on the list of people I'd join and unless something drastically changes my sole motivation would probably be the good old "If you can't beat them, join them".
So, good people of ED forums, will you help this soul torn asunder by the eternal conflict of morality and practicality? Enlighten me: Who is the savior of the galaxy?
