"Convoy beacon" are they worth doing?

Well I was pondering around space looking for space monsters (Still none) when I came across a "Convoy beacon" as this is ED I checked as it may have been a spelling mistake and there may have been bacon toasties waiting for me!

Alas, no bacon but a big convoy!

I then remembered this
Much like conflict zone where trade convoys have been interdicted and attacked

I had other stuff to do, so did not bother!
Also as this is FD I was afraid to take part as it may ruin rep?

I would like to know, what are the effects of these convoys?

Do they make a profit?
Do they improve rep?
Will I get a Bacon sandwich?

PS....
I would settle for a Bag of Monster Munch
Hell I would even take a bag of Space Raiders
For those of you in the Colonies and other foreign places, Monster Munch and Space Raiders are a highly nutritious and healthy meal choice eaten by only the classiest of society!

I'm afraid I don't have answers to your questions but I just wanted to say, one classy individual to another, that I wholeheartedly and entirely agree with your assessment of my favourite choice of hearty and healthy meals.

I dropped in on one last night. Lots of ships of all different in-system factions, some in wings, all with the name "Refugee". But there didn't seem to be the option to do anything. I figured it was just flavourtext, and left again.

Is there anything to actually do at convoy beacons?
