Convoy Dispersal Pattern.

If you scan the ships, sometimes they yield data.

Not all convoys are the same .... I seem to remember quite a variety ... some just continue on their way, others disperse leaving a ship to fend for itself. You can probably obtain mats from that one.

Currently scanning HGEs in unarmed Python. Never seems to be a shortage of the Conoys.
Time to get the Vette out of mothballs and investigate.

T6 and T7s normal suck but T9s explode with nice mats and cargo normaly...
Shields of course need to hold up long enough to allow collection even under all escorts fire so if you unlucky and get an anaconda or two instead of pythons you may want to abort as you will be sitting still waiting for collectors for some time...

Doing so in Anarchy systems to avoid bounty and fines for normal risk free kills..

I tried to shoot some of those ships at Convoy Signal sources around Colonia, but it is the same as shoot wanted ships around Nav. Beacon. No G5 materials and only sometimes a piece of G4 :(

If my memory serves me right scanning those convoy ships has a decent chance giving you classified scan databanks...or some other rare mat. I'm sure it's one of them, but I'm not fluent in the topic :)

In an Anarchy system,

Convoy Dispersal Pattern (Threat Level 0) is good for testing new weapons systems, devising pirating tactics against an eclectic range of ships, and bring new NPC wingman up in rank, from Harmless through Expert.

Once you have your tactics formalized, Distress Call (Threat Level 2) is a good place to train them against wings; the cargo carrier they are protecting, most always has gold in their bays.

Once sufficiently trained, defensive tactics can be sharpened in RES sites. (reaction against pirates trying to take your cargo). This has the added bonus of training NPC pilots, from Expert on-wards, rather nicely.

Yes, these POIs are very, very useful, especially for the BGS. Just learn what threats spawn what though. Some low threats...are quite spicy.
